Frederick, Gaston.
Absent: Members Kirk, Nelson.
Minutes of previous meeting read and approved as corrected, insert-
ing " Committee" after " authorize Planning Commission " In last
paragraph.
Old Business
Application 6f Eastern Shore Art Association to rezone from R-2 to ii
B-1 that part of Block 23 of Volanta lying west of the Eastern Shore
Parkway ( Hwy. 98), north of Pensacola Avenue, and South of Tensaw
Avenue or the street between block 18 and 23, in Section 37, T6S,
R2E, Baldwin L%ounty, Alabama. There being no opposition voiced by
property owners presert or letters received, motion by Mr. Dyson,
seconded by Mr. Pitman, that the application of the Eastern Shore
Art Association for rezoning be approved as submitted. Motion car-P
Tied unanimously.
Application of Material Sales Co., Inc. for rezoning from R-2 to M-1
all of lots 7 & 8 and east four feet of lot 9, block 26, and all
of loth 10 and west 21 feet of lot 9,llock 35, division 4, located
on north side of Johnson street between Brown and Mershon streets.
About 25 property owners attended with Jk. Troutman as spokesman for
opposition and W. R. Ruffles, Jr. representing Material gales.
Following full hearing of both sites the visitors were dismissed and
discussion continued between Commission members.
Lotion by Mr. Pitman, seconded by Mr. Dyson, that the Commission
recommend to the City Council the rezoning from R-2 to M-1 the
property of the Material Sales Co., Inc. described above subject
to:
(1) a ten foot buffer strip with evergreen planting along Johnson
street
(2) an eight foot hia:Rgax planting strip along the viest property
line from Johnson street north to the existing building
(3) an eight foot planting strip along the east property line.
(4) no ingress nor egress be made to the subject property from
Johnson street. ,
(5) if any structure is erected on subject property then the build-
ing will adhere to the residential set -back line on Johnson street.:
When requested planting is,completed by applicant the Planning
Commission shall be notified; at which time inspection will be
made and if planting is satisfactory to the Commission then it
will recommend to the City Council the rezoning of this property
at their next regular meeting. If this planting is not completed
with in six month than this action of the Planning and Zoning Com-
- ission is nullified. Motion carried unanimously.
Motion by "`r. SchneiderT seconded by Mr. uaston, that the j airhope
Planning and Zoning Commission recommend to the City Council the
Planning Board Dec. %, 1962 Page 2
adoption of the Zoning and Mobile Park Ordinance and Zoning Map
as corrected. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Schneiaer, chairman of the City Garage Committee reported that
Byrd L. M000e and Co. wouldxsappiyx draw up plansAand specification
for the building.
Letter read from the Eastern Shore Art Association concerning
building program. No action taken.
Letter read from Mr. Poser and ter. Huffman concerning Community
Center. No action taken.
Letter read from Robert •�ahrgang concerning drainage relocation,
forwarded to the Commission by the City Council was referred back
to the City with recommendation for investigation by the city en-
gineer.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned. Next
regular meeting oan. 4, 1960
