HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-23-1988 Regular MeetingA 25 The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met November 23, 1988 at 8:00 A.M. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street, Fairhope, Al. Present: Chairman Mason McGowin, members Jeanette Puckett, Russell Kilgore. M.L. Aust Consulting Engineer and Betty Rivenbark Secretary were also present. The purpose of today's meeting was to look over letter of response worked up by City Attorney to be sent to W.S. Newell regarding City's charge of liquated damages and Newell's response through attorney that he should not be charged for same. M.L. went over with board what had transpired with him and City attorney, him going over his records in order to complete response. M.L. said the project had run over almost two years from suggested closing date because of trouble with Elec. contractor. That on the advice of the City Attorney Newell was charged with the full amount of liquated damages. He related that on many occasions he would try to communicate with Newell with them not responding at all. All agreed that letter was in order to go ahead and have it sent on the right path, keep on going, hopefully not have to go to court. Mason remarked how well the City and Airport looked for governor's conference, all the work that was put into getting it ready. Mason also remarked that we did need to mow all of the airport at least once before the year is out and he would like City's cooperation on getting it done. At this time bills were considered for Jim Reid, M. L. on end of T-hanger project, M.L. on Reil lights help and bills for project. M.L.(Mark IV) 4,065.00 658.27 Reil Proj. 245.04 FAA -Newell 6,425.56 2,369.90 Jim Reid 1,284.55 Russ Kilgore moved to pay the bills as presented, Jeanette Puckett seconded and motion carried unanimously. M.L. reported that a revision was needed on the ALP and that it could be done under this project 90-10 for about $1,000-1,200. Jeanette Puckett moved to do what necessary, Russell Kilgore seconded and motion carried unanimously. Mason reported the correspondence that he had been receiving about trying to get commuter airline at the airport. That he has an appointment with a Atlantic Southeast representative in January and he is ready to show them what we can do. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
