HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-05-1987 Regular MeetingThe Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met October 5, 1987 at 8:00 A.M. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section Street. Present: Chairman Mason McGowin; members Jim Gaston, Robert Coiling, Jeanette Puckett and Consulting Engineer M.L. Aust. Mason told all members about the meeting with W.S. Newell that he, Russ and M. L. had and that they had presented them with a punch list to complete the project that they have no done. As a result of the meeting we told them that we would get a local contractor to do the work, a half day's worth, and bill them for cost. M.L. said he met w/local contractors and that they decided that Sellers was only one who could do the job. M. L. also mentioned that there were several bad connector kits that had been replaced and that he wrote a letter so if we had problem in the future we would be covered. The T-hangars were discussed, M.L. reported that out of the 8 built there were II places where the wheels were in the wrong place, that they were having to be re -done. Mason reported on the air show and said that there is probably going to be another $400 bill for fuel coming in, which all agreed would not be bad. Mason also mentioned the mowing that had to be done and that Tom Odom said he could possibly get us on State surplus list for bushhog, Betty to remind him. M.L. mentioned that he had talked to Percy on the paving for the T-hangars that he had asked about asphalt chunks for the County. M.L. to talk to him about getting done. T-hangars to completed by Thanksgiving supposedly. Mason mentioned the waterline bill from the City that right now we did not have money to pay, please put on hold, that there were several lights out on the runway, Betty to let Aaron know. M.L. had 4 invoices for payment: Mark IV Constructors, Inc. $18,161.82 M.L. Aust - $3,111 .11 M.L. Aust - $1,239.50 Matthews Testing Laboratory (T-hangars) $189.00 Jim Gaston moved to pay as presented, Jeanette Puckett seconded and motion carried unanimously. M.L. brought to board's attention meeting w/Jack Boykin about leasing land for him to build private hangar for his King Aire plane. The board discussed this with possible rent being $600.00 year. Mason asked for resolution to proceed with talking about leasing ground space to private individual, M.L. showed on map where they wished to build these, Jeanette Puckett moved to proceed w/talks, Jim Gaston seconded and motion carried unanimously. There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
