HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-06-2022 Fairhope Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee Meeting MinutesFairhope Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee Meeting Minutes Date: 9/6/2022 Committee Member Attendees: Gary Gover; Rosalie Stromme; Bill Hall; Chris Riley; Katie Bolton; Jack Graves Committee Member Absentees: John Kavanagh ; Chris Knight Guests in Attendance: Charlene Lee City Councilman representative : None were in attendance. Meeting called to order at 4:01 pm by Bill Hall. Motion carried to approve 8/2 /2022 minutes. Administrative Items: This committee still has one open position; everyone is encouraged to contact any Fairhope residents who might be interested in serving. Rambo Sidewalk Painting: *** Action Item: Chris Riley will contact a graphic designer to prepare a draft of a Mardi-Gras-themed crosswalk in front of Rambo 's Auto . Sidewalk Inventory Mapping: In order to prevent overlapping efforts , committee members who complete a section of the Fairhope sidewalk inventory project should take a screen shot of their completed area(s) and email this screen shot to all other committee members . Some areas on the ARCGIS Field Maps Application do not have any corrections to be made because it is accurate so this additional step will allow for no duplication of efforts in this large assignment. Environmental Advisory Board: Katie Bolton attended the most recent City of Fairhope Env ironmental Advisory Board meeting in the attempt to draft a collaborativ e effort for areas of prominent overlap. EAB is working on a final list. Safe Routes to School Resolution: After working with the new Safe Routes to School Steering Committee Task Force, Charlene Lee proposed that the Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee join the collaborative effort to hav e the attached Safe Routes to School Resolution presented at a City Council meeting before International Walk To School Day (which has been renamed to Rock, Roll and Ride) set for October 5th . Fairhope West school has strong support from its principal , school teachers , 35-40 parents and 55-60 children participating. However Fairhope East, Newton and Fairhope Middle School have not responded acti v ely in support of the Walking School Bus program. After reviewing the Resolution Draft, Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee Members voted to support it as written. *** Action Item: Bill Hall to attend the 9/26/2022 Fairhope City Council meeting to provide our full support with the Trailblazers for this program to be presented by Charlene Lee. Comprehensive Land Use presentation : The October 2022 consultant meetings will represent a final phase of community engagement in this process . ***Action Item: All committee members should review the March 2022 consultant Land Use Draft (found online) and plan to attend one of these four Comprehensive Land Use presentations to be held at the Fairhope Civic Center on October 3rd at 9am or 1pm or Octobert 4th at 11am or 5pm. Next scheduled meeting: October 4 , 2022 at 4pm in the Library 's Second Floor Boardroom. Meeting adjourned at 5:08pm. Respectfully submitted , Rosalie Stromme, Secretary
