Committee Member Attendees: Chris Riley; Gary Gover; Katie Bolton ; Michelle
Melton; Rosalie Stromme; Bill Hall.
Committee Member Absentees: Jason Small; Robert Brown.
Guests: Jessica Walker; Hunter Simmons; Chris Knight; John Kavanagh .
Meeting called to order at 4pm by Chris Riley with quorum met
Motion carried unanimously to approve 12/17/2020 minutes.
Committee Membership: Matt Love had been a prior member of P&B Committee
but has not attended any meetings since April 2019 therefore it was agreed that
he has effectively self-resigned as an active participant. Two applicants for
Committee appointments to fill vacancies were introduced: Chris Knight and John
Kavanagh. Motion carried unanimously to approve their appointment as voting
members. Rosalie Stromme to assume position of Secretary .
Bicycle Repair Station: Fairhope Cycling Project may be able to fund a grant to
purchase one bicycle repair station to be installed on a cement footprint near the
Pier Street Boat Ramp due to its popular location along Eastern Shore Trail.
***Action item: Jason Small to provide additional information about the cost of
this item.***
Twin Beach Road and Boothe Road intersection: No update on crosswalk
installation/pedestrian beacon status.
Bicycle Friendly & Safe Community Application Update: Bill Hall had not yet
distributed this online application to Jessica Walker or Richard Johnson.
***Action Item: Bill and Michelle have set a i5t draft deadline of 4/1/2021 for city
documentation submission. Draft deadline review for the entire application is set
for 6/1/2021 to meet the final August submission date.
Committee of Committees: Gary Gover is the designated chairperson for this city
committee but has not organized any physical or zoom meetings as of this date. It
was agreed that Gary will be the P&B representative when this entity meets.
Fels Ave to Pier Ave Sidewalk Expansion: No update as Richard Johnson was not in
attendance. ***Action item: Rosalie Stromme will follow up on the status of this
road-choking modification to current sidewalk configuration. ***
Infrastructure Wish List: There is a master list on P&B Google Drive that was
compiled to address specific places in Fairhope for P&B improvements; the entire
master list can be accessed at

(i.e. completed, partially completed or remain to be completed)***
a) ADA Accessability, Pedestrian Crossings -Chris R.
b) Fairhope Lanes -Chris K.
c) Bike Parking -Michelle and Katie
d) Sidewalks -John and Gary
Bike Rack Installations: Bike Racks on De La Mare outside of Fly Bar have still not
been reinstalled yet. The master list of existing bike rack locations can be found at
the Google Drive address listed above.
NPS Connectivity Master Plan: No update. Last communication from our federal
representatives on this subject was from 1/11/2020.
Wayfaring Signage: This project is waiting for funding from FTA.

New Business:
a) Jessica made committee aware of the new City of Fairhope phone app.
b) Bike Safety Signage issues -Further discussion needed with Richard
Johnson to determine ALDOT requirements/restrictions for placing bike
safety signs on existing traffic signage.
c) All committee members are encouraged to attend the next meeting on
1/19/2021 at 9am of the Baldwin County Metro Planning Pedestrian and
Bicycle Subcommittee.
d) Committee members are encouraged to attend meetings of the Coastal
Alabama Foundation Livable Communities Coalition as we are participating

e) City of Fairhope sent a police officer to attend a Bicycle Safety Training
seminar in December 2019. ***Action item: Gary to determine from Chief
of Police what, if any, benefit the public received from this training.***
Next scheduled meeting: February 2, 2021 at 4pm -Museum Conference Room.
