Committee Member Attendees: Gary Gover; Chris Knight; Rosalie Stromme; Bill Hall; Chris

Committee Member Absentees: Jason Small; Katie Bolton
Meeting called to order at 4:02pm by Bill Hall .
Motion carried unanimously to approve 5/4/2021 minutes.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee: Bill Hall has uploaded this committee's activity calendar
onto accessible Google drive.
Bike-to-School Program : Candidates for this Program Manager volunteer position will need to
be solicited from outside this committee's current membership.
***Action item : Advertisements for this volunteer posting will be placed on the Bike-to-School
Program Face Book page (Rosalie Stromme) and on Fairhope Now web page (Gary Gover).***
Safe-Routes-to-School Task Force: The Eastern Shore Trailblazers organization has taken the
summer off from meetings so further discussion of a volunteer for this Task Force is tabled until
organizer, Charlene Lee, returns from summer break. Further details are needed in terms of
frequency of prospective meetings and names of other volunteers from representative
organizations.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee Input for city projects: Gary Gover reviewed a Fairhope City
presentation prepared by Rick Hendrick, consultant, regarding PROAG (Public Right of Way
Accessibility Guidelines) and Fairhope's current and projected compliance levels with ADA.
Committee goal is to recommend Pedestrian & Bicycle representation on major City of Fairhope
projects such as: Working Waterfront Project (Chris Riley and Chris Knight) and Triangle
Property (volunteers as yet to be designated).
Infrastructure Wish List: This Wish List was compiled to address specific places in Fairhope for
recommended P&B improvements; the entire master Wish List can be accessed on the P&B

***Action item: Chris Riley to provide drone shots indicating proposed pedestrian striping
from Tamara's to the Provisions store similar to the striping found in front of Ace Hardware; he
will forward shots to Richard Johnson***
***Action items: Michelle Melton will generate 311 tickets requesting placement of extra bike
racks stored in city warehouse to be installed on Coastal Alabama campus .
Bicycle Friendly & Safe Community Application : No additional update.
Connecting America's Active Transportation System Act S.3391/HR.5696:
Communication in support of this federal bill has been sent on City of Fairhope letterhead to
Alabama congressmen, Carl, Tuberville and Shelby.
Nichols Avenue Crossing: Gary Gover's memo regarding this issue was sent to the mayor who
responded by forwarding it to Richard Johnson .
Triangle Property Grant : We are still waiting to hear from ADECA re application.
Fels to Pier Sidewalk Expansion : No further action taken.
Fairwood Bicycle Path Project : Gary Gover provided a brief overview of the Complete Streets
Program which "integrates people and place in networks. This helps to ensure streets put safety
over speed, balance the needs of different modes, and support local land the planning, design,
construction, operation, and maintenance of our transportation uses, economies, cultures, and
natural environments."
Next scheduled meeting: July 6, 2021 at 4pm -Museum Conference Room.
