FAIRHOPE PLANK I13 AND ZONING BOARD
July 30, 1954
Meeting called to order by Chairman J. E. Woolley at 400 P. M. Sharp.
Minutes of previous meeting approved as read.
Members Present were J. E. Woolley, "�. B. Niemeyer, Ed Overton, Mrs. Rose Kamper,
Jno. '�. Huffman, Cecil Pitman, Dick ?Bacon.
Mr. Sidney Doyle of State Planning Board was present and wo were 15 interested
citizens assembled to discuss the proposed zoning ordinance.
Mr. Doyle presented the Proposed Zoning Ordinance by reading the Text and com-
menting on various unfamiliar portions.
After a reading of the Zoning Ordinance the meeting was thrown open to questions
and general discussion, which covered barking dogs, crowing roosters, length of
time of occupancy to qualify for Residential use; permissibility of trailers as
temporary quarters while building a permanent home.
There being no further discussion, the open meeting was adjourned. Next meeting
to be August 18th , at the Ui ty Hall at 4 z O0 P. M.
As soon as the 15 interested people departed the Planning and Zoning Board resumed
the discharge of their'duties.
Mr. Joe Zimmerman submitted a new proposal for the sub -division of his School St.
property. It was moved by Dick Macon and seconded by E. B. Overton, that his appli-
cation, as submitted, be rejected on the grounds that it is too far different from the
plat as approved by the commission in connection with his pre-liminary application.
Motion carried. The Secretary was instructed to inform Mr. Zimmerman that his appli-
cation had been turned down.
The Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company presented the following recommend-
ation with a request that it be incorporated in the subdivision regulations of the Fairhope
Planning and zoning commission. "It is recommended that in all future subdivision
whenever the Utilities and public service are to be placed in the rear of lots, where
there is no public alley, a 10 foot easement shall be given to the City. This ease-
ment is to remain free and clear of all shrubs, etc., and fences; however, it is not
necessarily open to the public.
It was moved by Cecil Pitman and seconded by Mrs. Kamper that the recommendation of
the Southern bell Telephone and Telegraph Ccmpnay be adopted as presented. Motion
carried. The Secretary was instructed to present the recommendation to the City
Council and recommend that it be adopted by them.

BE IT RESOLVED that the minutes of the Commission as of
July 307 1954 be and the same are amended to show that
the term of office of the members of this board appointed
by the Mayor are as follows:
Cecil Pitman for one year.
Ted Page for two years.
Mrs. H. P. Kamper for three years.
John S. Huffman for four years.
J. E. Gaston for five years.
J. E. Woolley for six years.
