Meeting called to order at 4:10pm by Bill Hall.
Motion carried to approve 6/1/2021 minutes.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee Meeting room: Chris Riley has been unable to attend this
meeting since May 2021 because the History Museum elevator has been out of service and ETA
for its repair is not as yet confirmed.
***Action item: Bill Hall to find an alternate location for our October 2021 meeting to
accommodate any attendees with mobility issues.
Bike-to-School Program: Jasmine Hodges and John Richardson have volunteered to jointly
share the Program Manager position for the upcoming school year with dates already
determined through May 6, 2022.
Safe-Routes-to-School Task Force: Gary Gover has volunteered to be the Pedestrian and Bicycle
Committee representative on the Eastern Shore Trailblazers Safe Routes Task Force.
***Action item: Gary Gover is to contact Charlene Lee to determine Task Force meeting
dates/times.
Central Business District Parking Subcommittee: Jason Small has volunteered to be the
Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee representative on the Parking Subcommittee as requested
by Hunter Simmons.
***Action item: Jason Small is to contact Hunter Simmons to determine Parking Subcommittee
meeting dates/times.
Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee Input for city projects:
a) Working Waterfront Project -- Chris Knight met with Mayor Sullivan and exchanged
contact information with Jack Burrell, City Councilman.
b) Triangle Project – Katie Bolton has volunteered to track the status of this project
c) Fairwood Blvd Sidewalk Bike Bath – Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) grant
application has been submitted.
***Action item: Gary Gover to research if the TAP grant was approved or denied.
Infrastructure Wish List: This Wish List was compiled to address specific places in Fairhope for
recommended P&B improvements; the entire master Wish List can be accessed on the P&B

***Action item: Chris Riley is still working on providing drone shots indicating proposed
pedestrian striping from Tamara’s to the Provisions store similar to the striping found in front of
Ace Hardware; he will forward shots to Richard Johnson ***
***Action item: Michelle Melton will determine if the extra bike racks stored in city warehouse
have in fact been installed on Coastal Alabama campus.
Bicycle Friendly & Safe Community Application: No additional update.
GIS Complete Sidewalk Map: Richard Johnson was to have introduced this completed map with
every non-ADA compliant location at the July City of Fairhope council meeting. This item was
not listed on any of the July or August Council Meeting Agendas. All committee members are
encouraged to attend the Fairhope Full Comprehensive Land Use Plan to be presented at an
open forum public meeting on September 22, 2021 from 6-8 pm at the Nix Center.
Fels to Pier Sidewalk Expansion: No further action taken.
***Action item: Rosalie Stromme to contact Richard Johnson in the attempt to get an
approximate dollar estimate which would then determine if there are any grant money
opportunities available for this proposed project.
NPS Connectivity Master Plan and Wayfinding Signage: Motion carried to table these two items
from future committee agendas due to lack of response from responsible entities outside of
Fairhope’s control.
New Business:
a) Gary Gover indicated that the crosswalk across Spring Run adjoining Greeno Road is a
dangerous intersection due to a recent bicycle vs. car collision. Neither party contacted
the police to file an official police report so this incident is off the record.
b) City council representative has not been present at recent Pedestrian and Bicycle
Committee Meetings.
***Action item: John Kavanagh will contact Council member Jay Robinson to request that a
permanent city council member be assigned to attend Pedestrian and Bicycle Committee
meetings.
Next scheduled meeting: October 5, 2021 at 4pm – Location to be determined (see above).
