The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met Monday, June 29,
1987 at 1:00 P.M. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section St.
Fairhope, Al.
Present: Chairman Mason McGowin; members Jeanett Puckett, Robert
Coiling, Jim Gaston, Russ Kilgore. Engineering Consultant
M.L. Aust was also present and Byron Lassiter, Attorney
representing Joe Duncan/Fairhope Aero.
The purpose of the meeting today was to consider a request presented
to the Board to purchase from Fairhope Aviation Services, Inc its
leasehold interest at the Fairhope Municipal Airport. Request from
Joe Duncan/Fairhope Aero, Inc. Mr. Byron Lassiter, Attorney,
was presenting Mr. Duncan and presented to the Board a Petition for Permission
to Transfer . The Board discussed with Mr. Lassiter what all in-
volved. Mr. Lassiter also had sketch of the leased area noted as Parcel A
and Parcel B. The Board being satisfied that no major changes were
being proposed for this area, Meg Cosby would continue to run the
facility and Mr. Lassiter was quick to point out that this would in no
way affect Rohr Industries. Jim Gaston moved to approve transfer
of leasehold interests and so recommend same to City Council for
approval, Jeanette Puckett seconded,and motion carried unanimously.
M.L. presented three bills for board's consideration:
I. M.L. Aust, Jr./Thompson Engineering Testing, Inc. $19,323.51
for Engineering Special Services in accordance with contract
general provisions
2. Two invoices from Austin Beasley for mowing and spraying:
$1,293.50 and $328.00 Total $1,621.50
3. Invoice from Pascoe, low bidder on T-hangar buildings:
$33,962.40*
*M.L. pointed out that $350 was to be deducted from this
bill as per conversation with Ben Gray 6/29/87. This is
amount owed less 10o due upon receipt of material.
Jim Gaston moved to pay bills as presented, Russ Kilgore seconded
and motion carried unanimously.
Mason reported on the dedication and asked everyone if 9/19/87
would be good time, no one objected. He and Jeanette to work
together on it.
Russ reported that the County is at the airport today and should
get finished with site work. All acknowledged that weather has
thrown everyone behind.
Mr. Lassiter presented a proposed amendment to present "Minimum
Requirements for Fixed Base Operators". All to look at and study.
Mason asked M.L. about possibility of Newell to let us hire crew
locally to finish little things that need completing at Airport and deduct
amount so he will not have to send in crew. M.L. said this is another
way to work so we will get it completed.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
