Overton replaces Er. Klumpp. Q. hier.3yer, wollcy, Huffman and Doyle Lill neet on Saturday, Uay 29, at 10:15 a. m. to finish tho proposed zoning, map. The secretary was instructed to notify the city council that the commission felt it would be ad.visrblo and advantageous to the city of Fairhope if the city would adopt the Southern Build_in od Co, Along with ito other standards, and respectfully urge the adoption reothef. n P OWN It was moved and successfully carried by the commission that the following r.otico appear in our local paper, at lees;, 15 days prior to June 25th: "Mere will be a public hearing; Juno 25th at 4 p.m. at the City Kall to dis- cuss the long ran;e use plan for the City of 7airhope prior to its adop- tion by the City Planning 'hoard. A copy of this plan may be exarined at the City Hall." L:r. Doyle now wor::ing on a zoning text to be on hand for adoption soon. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be Juno 25, at 4 p.m. 1,. Page 2 - MINUTES -Cont. ' A special committee, consisting of Dick Macon, Mrs. Rose Kamper and Brad Niemeyer, ure 0 who were appointed to investigate and report back on the advisability of granting Mr: Dawson a permit to add a structure to the West side of his present grocery store located atl"Merxhon and Morphy Streetsi recommedded that permission four the addition be given. t was —moved by ick Macon and seconded by Mr. Overton that the Planning Commission recommend to the City Council that permission be granted Mr. Dawson to add to the west side of his store, as per his original application. Motion carried. The Secretary was instructed to convey this information to the City Council. Mr. J. E. Gooden presented a request for permission to build a Trailer ijark on the Southwest corner of Morphy and Mershon Street for consideration. It was moved by Dick Macon, and seconded by J. E. Woolley, that the application be rejected. Motion carried. The Secretary was instructed to inform Mr. Gooden that his application had been turned down. The State Planning Board outlined its new method of charging for it's services. See letter of July 26, 54, over signature of W. 0. Dobbins. It was moved by Cecil Pitman, and seconded by J. E. Woolley that the Planning.Board recommend to the City Council that arrangements be made to secure the services of the State Planning Board. Motion carried. The Secretary was instructed to present the recommendation to the City Council, for their approval. Mr. Doyle interpreted the laws on replacing members of the Board as follows: "The Mayor will appoint new members according to the State law." The original members of the planning commission, in the order of appointment, are as follows. Cecil Pit- men, J. E. Gaston, Jno. S. Huffman, J. E. Woolley, Ted Page, Mrs. Rose Kamper. The above were appointed on May 25, 1953 and the first individual appointed for a term of one year. The second individual for a term of two years and so on. Mr. Byrd Moore, presented an application for permission to have commercial and light y( industrial zoning pernLissable in an R2 Zone, on North Section Street. Application referred to the next meeting. It is necessary at the next regular meeting to elect a Chairman from among the appointed members. An application for permission to place business signs by L'r. Jansen and Mr. Pose, on Municipal property was presented by C. B. Niemeyer. It was moved by Cecil Pitman, and seconded by Jno. S. Huffman that the application be rejected and that the Secretary be instructed to convey this information to the City Council,, with the recommendation that the placing of signs on City Proper.and right-of-ways, unless immediately in front of the property owned by the individual concerneds be prohibited. There being no further business, the meetin* was adjourned. The next meeting will be August 18th , at WOO P. M. at the City Hall.
