161 N . Section Street
Present: Chairman Mason McGowin, members
Russ Kilgore, Jim Gaston, Buzz Coiling, Jeanette
Puckett. Also present was engineer M.L. Aust.
The engineer went over the project as it now stands.
He said that Newell's Supt. has been gone for at least
2 weeks. That they went over the punch list 4/28 and
still have a few things they need to check, but need to
wait on the weather to check them out. Hopefully within
the next couple of weeks. Then he will put in final
pay request. He reported that the last parcel of land
had been acquired. He also brought up the Spitzer
re -location. He said Spitzer had called Jim Reid and had
also left a note on his door. He asked about the Board's
ruling II/86 that no one other than the attorney have any
contact w/him. They reaffirmed that was still their wish.
Have Jim Reid contact him or his attorney. Mason said
that we need to settle finally with him thru our attorney.
Russ Kilgore moved that the city attorney be instructed to
negotiate and finalize all items relating to land acquistion,
relocation, air rights, easement rights. Jeanette Puckette
seconded and motion carried unanimously.
M.L. also reported on the T-hangars. He said he had appoint-
ment with Jim Reid after the meeting today. He said we are still
waiting on the County to move dirt, but we have not recieved
contract back from Mark IV yet. When we do, time will begin.
Mason brought up at this time the ceremony we won't to have
when project complete. He wants dignitaries, some type of
aircraft show, big planes and refreshments. All agreed that
it should not be too hard to arrange. Possibly have by late
September or early October. Mason also brought up the T-hangar
contracts. We need to have Jim Reid draw something up. Russ
said he had a copy of a T-hangar agreement that he would get
US.
Mason said he had kept the hours on how long it would take to
mow and that it had turned out to be a big project, a big expense.
Further that he has some herbicide he will donate to kill grass
around runway lights.
M.L. Aust presented two bills to the Board for engineering services:
one for $4,187.50 and one for $2,041.67. Jim Gaston moved as they
were in order paying them as money is available. Buzz Coiling
seconded and motion carried unanimously.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
