PLAMING AND ZONING BOARD

The First meeting of the City Planning Commission
of 11'airhope, Alabama was called to order by :Sayor Klumpp
at the City Hall on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00 P.
M. Members persent were llayor T. J. Klumpp, Sr., R. C.
Macon, 0. B. Niemeyer, Cecil Pitman, Rose Kamper, J. ". Woolley,
J. E. Gaston, T. E. Page and Jno.-S. Huffman.
1.1r. Sidney A. Doyle of the otate Planning Board was guest
speaker. f ayor Klumpp called the board to order and pro-
ceeded to the election of officers and the naming of com-
mittees. 'jhe following is 'Lhe results:
R. G. Macon, Chairman: J. E. Gaston, Vice -Chairman:
Jno. S. Huffman, Secretary. Cecil Pitman, J. E.
Woolley, and Mrs. hose Kamper were appointed to
serve on a sub -division committee. C. B. Niemeyer,
Jno. �. Huffman and T. E. Page were appointed to
serve on the Zoning Committee.
Follaring the above business Mr. Sidney h. Doyle of the
State Planning Board gave a short talk defining terms,
authority and recommendations pertaining to a Gity Planning
Commission and out lined the duties and the scope of operation.
In general, tho City Planning Commission duties are to make
recommendations to the 'legislative body, based on studies and
reports, taken from Civil Engineers and landscape ttrti.sts re-
commendations. The State Planning Board will supply advise
and engineering data to the local board for future study and
submission to the legislative department. In short, thepur-
pose of the board is to correct our error and poor judgement
of the past and try to plan for the future.
It was decided that the next meeting would be the )nth Wednes-
day in October.
