FEAB Minutes :
Jim made a motion to approve t he A pril 2021 FEAB minutes, as written. Minutes were
approved unanimous ly.
Upcoming Meeting with Mayor May 21, 2021 3 p.m. at Nix Center :
Amy went over bias and agenda items one last time . She has also dra f ted a Power Poi nts
presen ta tion and r ev iewed that p r ese ntation . Kim w ill check wit h Nix Center to make
sure projector is set up for meeti ng on Friday .

Jim : keep presentat ion brief, especially the bio part. Send bios and brief agenda ahead of
t i me to the Mayor so in the presentation only names are needed .
Gary suggested Amy present on behalf of the board . Everyo ne agreed.
Gary said EAB has been around for about two decades, he is an original member. Jim and
M i ke are also long-t erm members . Mayor has worked for the City i n some capacity for
over 21 y ears (wit h 4-year lapse), so she wil l be familiar w it h FEAB .
Kim : past FEAB projects include development of the Parks Brochure and assisting with
creation and revie w of city ordinances (Wet lands , Red So il & Clay).

Amy : ultimate goal of the meeting with the Mayor is to ga i n her confidence so FEAB
adv ice can be trusted.
Jim : We need to identify priorities with Mayor, including her priorities that FEAB ca n
assist with .
Jennifer : T his will b e FEABs opportunity to ask how we ca n be better involved with Dy as
Tr iangle developme nt .
Amy : Wants comments from Mayor on how to give her a heads up o n resolutions FEAB
drafts . How ca n we communicate better w ith her?
Ji m emp hasized importance of ha vi ng key staff at meetings, and/or communicating w ith
key staff {Planning Director, Water and Sewer Director, etc .)

Amy : Climate change will not be discussed at this t i me. In the future, we can address
climate change thro ugh low hang in g fruit suc h as encouraging energy audits and clean
fuel ve hi c les for ci ty st aff. Mike sa id Fo ley h as a Te sla . Kim said she t hi nks some of t he
Electric dept. vehicles might be electric, but we have no electric fueling stat ions in to w n
that she knows of.
Community Resilience Index :
Mike sa id FEAB should consider using the 2014 version , si nce upgrade is slow movi ng, not
sure when it will be available .
Work ing Waterfront :
City is ask in g for fina l comments . Now is the time to make creative suggestions and
encourage sustainable development in our park areas .

Dyas Triangl e Property :
Gary: has the fee ling Mayor will wait a year before taking o n any new projects. He does
not agree with the d i rection Triang le Conservative and Pub li cs Works is going so fa r wit h
the triang le property, but does not believe Mayor will make aggressive decisions until i n
office for at least a year .
Ji m : where does the park designation stand? Michelle is sti ll gathering information from
the Mayor and powers that be . One option appears to be for the City to donate the
Tr iangle to Fairhope Single Tax, who would t hen in turn handle the park dedication and
then re t urn to the City as park la nds, fo r ever deeded as parks . Once grant is final ized, t his
can be fu rth er p u rsued . Gary ag ree d wit h w a iting for gran t fin a l iza t ion .
Ki m : The r e are other park lands av a il ab le that could be used as trails, other than the Dyas
Triangle .
Jennifer requests a map of City Parklands, Kim will work to provide this by ne xt meeting .
Ot her business :
1 . America Recovers Program
Miche ll e : there is mad money avai lable from the "Amer ica Recovers " program .
Kim asked if osprey cams could be considered . Cit y recently installed an osprey
platform at the end of Sea Cliff Drive and Mayor wants a live feed cam u ltimately
i nstalled , once ospreys are confirmed to be nesting there . ACF has stated a $15k
price tag for live cams .
2. Connectivity: Gary said c ity can use work with con nectivity of green
space/common areas in su bdivis io ns in connect io n with existing trails,
i ncluding Eastern Shore Bike Tra i l.
3 . Comp Plan : Mike sai d comp plan is still due to be redone . Kim said Comp Plan
is a guidance document only, it is not a r egulato ry item .
4. Planning Comm ission : Michelle said FEAB needs more interaction w ith
Planning Commission, which meets monthly and is live streamed . Can be
viewed during or afte r .
