Barfield from FAA and Mayor Schneider Dr. Mullins briefed Mr. Barfield on proceedings thus far. The minutes were read by the Secretary and approved as read. OLD BUSINESS: Dr. Mullins that he had looked into the land acquisition, and gave a brief report on his findings. NEIN BUSINESS: Mr. arfieT3 discussed paving design, minor corrections, and advertising plans. Dr. Mullins talked about a letter from city stating what had been done before they started operations. Mr. Barfield gave the following steps to the Board: Get FroJect application completed. �213 Get Title Opinion on merchantability of fee simple land from city attorney. (3) Receive bids and decide on acceptance with FAA concurrence. (4) Send bids to FAA District in Jackson. (2 cert. copies) He also discussed the contract between FAA and the City of Fairhope. He stressed the importance of a grant offer being sent to FAA. Dr. Mullins stated that bids would be opened on June 24th at 7:30 P.M. at the City Council Meeting. A discussion followed concerning filling out the Project Applica- tion. Mr. Barfield said it would be necessary to have one on i- nal and six copies. He also said that half of the Testinq Costs should be paid by the City. One operator, he said, was all that was needed in an airport of its size. A resolution was made concerning who would assume the responsibility -- the Airport Board or the Nayor. It was decided that the Airport Board should assume all responsibility, and that all documents con- cerning r?the Airport should be siggnad thusly: City of Fairhope acting by and through the Airport Board of Fairhope." Mr. Barfield then pointed out 2 deficiencies in the engineering con- tract: 1) Supervision and inspection of job not provided. 2) Need for "a's constructed" plans--2 sets for FAA. Dr. Mullins discussed "T" hangers for the Airport. Mr. Barfield suggested a visit to Brookhaven, Mississippi to examine a similar setup..
