FEAB MINUTES:
Discussion related to the previous minutes was pushed off until the next meeting
DISCUSSION OF ITEMS:
FEAB Membership/ By Laws Resolution:
Gary updated the Board on the status of the FEAB by laws amendment that would re-
define membership status . The draft resolution was previously approved by FEAB and
provided to the City Council for its approval. The vote is expected to be on the agenda
for the October 12 Council meeting .
Additionally, the FEAB recognized that it now has three vacancies . Tony noted that the
meeting notes continue to list former members. FEAB agreed this list should be
updated. This update is reflected in the current notes .
Dyas "Triangle" Property:
A brief discussion about the property resulted in general agreement that this topic will
continue to be a high priority for the FEAB in the coming months.
Fly Creek Watershed Management Plan, update
Amy said the planning effort is well underway and progressing. Engagement throughout
the process will help FEAB members provide informed and valuable recommendations
to the Council and to the WMP process. Amy will continue to update the FEAB as the
plan progresses.
Wetlands Ordinance
FEAB members pointed out some examples of continuing filling of wetlands around
Fairhope (including S. Mobile St near Gambinos and Highway 13 at Manly Rd).
Members also noted that Erik Cortinas has been asked previously to join a FEAB meeting
to discuss the wetlands ordinance. Gary will ask Kim to invite Mr. Cortinas again to join

a future FEAB meeting so that FEAB can learn about the current process, its limitations,
and identify ways to assist the City as it implements its ordinance . Amy also
recommended that this top i c is within the scope of and can be included as a focal point
in the Watershed Management Plan upon the recommendation of the FEAB.
Comprehensive Land Use Plan
Gary announced the City has selected a contractor, and noted the significan t financial
i nvestment in this Plan. The RESTORE Act grant provides the City an unp r ecedented
plann i ng opportunity. Members discussed possible ways to ensure the i nvestment is
max i mized through the application of its findings and r ecommendations. No specific
recommenda t ions were determined, but it was agreed that the topic will continue to be
discussed in future Board meetings .
Climate Action Plan
Amy said there are federal grants available to help fund a Climate Action Plan , and
provi ded several examples of the type of content it would contain .
