The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met January 16, 1987
at 8:30 A.M. at the City Administration Building, 161 N. Section
Street
Present: Chairman Mason McGowin, members Russ
Kilgore and Jeanette Puckett. M.L. Aust
Consultant was also present
M.L. presented to the Board 3 bills he had as follows:
$191.82 for expense incurred when he took some F.A.A
officials down to the Grand Hotel. Bill for $3,383.50
for engineering, 101 hr. @ 33.50 and bill for $2,625.00
for balance due on construction engineering services.
Muss Kilgore moved to pay these bills as presented.
Jeanette Puckett seconded and motion carried unani-
mously.
M.L. mentioned that on the project the Control Panel and
PAPI lights approved just waiting for them to come in. That
hopefully everything be finished by the middle of February.
Mason mentioned that the purpose of this meeting was to
aefinitely decide if we were going to get T-hangars. That
when the project came along the T-hangar issue got put
on the back burner, that the problem with the site is
there is a sloping site. It was decided that we could not
do the project unless we charged at least $125.00 rent per
month on proposed eight units. The board talked about
different charges, rates of interest, time of amortization,
what we could get. The Mayor came in and talked
with Board about what the City would do as far as site
work. What would be covered in the bid on the buildings
( concrete slab and building unit only) . They talked about
best site. Russ pointed out that we could go w/open type
T-hangar, w/roof only next to existing pavement or go
with full fledge 8 units, which require more site work and
ground work but could possibly get another FAA project
to help out. A cost of at least $120,000 for 15 yrs amortized
at 8% was discussed. The need to approach Council and ask
for $115,000.00 was discussed. Russ Kilgore moved to authorize
.Jlason McGowin to go to Council and ask for money needed to
get project going on 8 full fledged T-hangar units. Jeanette
Puckett seconded and motion carried unanimously. The City
to do as much site/dirt work as possible, bid out the building.
With this decision made, there being no further business,
meeting was duly adjourned.
