Jon Cardwell noted that funding previously requested and approved for a teacher
position at Fairhope High will not be needed, as a state foundation unit has become
available for that position.
Ken Cole and Carrie McLemore shared an update regarding nominations for the
commission. Though Hill Robinson has agreed to serve another term, because of
injuries sustained in a recent accident he will not be able to attend the first meeting
or two in the new year. Ken offered to attend as a placeholder for Hill until his
return, mainly for the purpose of ensuring a quorum in the event there are items to
be approved. Motion was made and approved to allow Ken to serve as needed in
early 2021.
Discussion took place regarding a potential change to the schedule of the
commission's monthly meetings. In order to have the best attendance possible, a
change of the day and time were discussed. At this time the day seems workable for
all, but a change to a later time, such as 5:00 or 5:30, or an early morning time, were
considered. Ken will gather information about availability of city facilities at these
different times, and will revisit the matter at the organizational meeting for 2021 in
January.
The next meeting of the FPSC will be on January 6 th at 4:30 p.m. at the Nix Center.
