Math Coach were hired for the 2020-2021 school year, and Fairhope West earned the distinguished
certification of a STEAM Certified School. We look forward to expanding support to our staff and
students with the new allocation of funds . Below are requests for the approximate $400,000 designated

FPSC Request
Fall '21
Note re Funding ... Ben Monk will rotate off 3-mil funding into a foundation science unit
replacing Stephanie Wainwright during the Rea ssignment period .
1. Science Teacher/ACT Testing Coordinator/504 Director/RT! Coordinator-This teacher
will be utilized teaching science classes and assuming duties as Testing coordinator, but
more importantly as 504 and RTI coordinator. This would ensure that we are addressing
needs and progress of our at-risk and targeted students . Rehire Mandy Hewitt
2. Science Teacher/ACT Prep-Our ACT prep classes are being expanded to address the
Science component of the ACT . The Science port ion of the ACT is chang i ng this year,
and it will be more Sc i ence content-driven rather than reading -based . We are targeting
the Science component in our ACT classes . (New Hire)
3. Math Teacher/ACT Prep-We are dedicating a math teacher to our ACT prep classes. In
the past, we have juggled schedules and tried to hit math on the surface . We are
hoping this will open up more ACT prep slots for our students and increase our scores of
our elite-performing students, as well as our at-r isk students. Rehire Sherry Brewer
4. Math Teacher-I am transferring a SPED teacher (Parker Sanders) to math . Parker will
be targeting our at-r isk students in his classroom. With his Special Educat ion
background, Parker will be better prepared to address the different levels and
deficiencies. Reassign Parker Sanders
5 . Social Worker -I will be hiring a full -time Social Worker to service our 9th grade
academy . Currently, one social worker serves all 4 grade -levels . This person could also
be available to support FMS school , if needed . New Hire .
6 . Crisis Alert-Splitting $40,000 with Fairhope M i ddle School to provide Crisis Alert to 9th
grade academy and Fairhope Middle School. Since HS students and teachers will be
using FMS, we thought it prudent to install Crisis Alert on that campus, as well.
7 . Engineering Department-Total funding of Cody Coleman's Engineering Dept for
$15,000 . This will include tools and materials vital in his Engineering I-IV Classes .
