The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met December 18,
1986 at 1:30 p.m. at the City Administration Building, 161
N . Section Street
Present: Chairman Mason McGowin; members Russ Kilgore
Jeanette Puckett, Robert Coiling, Jim Gaston
Mason told the Board he had received a letter from the
Water & Sewer Board in Mobile that they had a specially
treated fertilizer that they were giving away and that he
and many others in the Airport area had signed a contract
to put this down and he thought it would be a good idea
but needed Board's authorization to do this, and he said
if it becomes a problem he would stop them from coming.
Motion by Jim Gaston, seconded by Russ Kilgore to approve
Chairman entering into contract with them unanimously carried.
M. L. brought the Board up to date on what happened at the
Airport since last meeting. That he had written a letter to
Mr. Newell informing them that their surety would be called
and as a result Mr. Newell came down and set the electrical
sub -contractor straight on the project. That they were
working steadily now and things were going a lot better.
Buzz asked how far along are we with project. M.L. said
about 95%, Buzz asked about where we stand on money and
M. L. said good, we are running like we are suppose to.
M. L. said the electrical contractor was being charged $300.00
a day because of the hold up. He mentioned that we had to
make an addendum to Newell's contract on the beads for
paint, an additional $1,003.00 changing the figure from
$1,190,418 to $1,191,421. J.E. Gaston moved and Buzz Coiling
seconded this, motion carried unanimously. M.L. presented
an invoice for the contractor $22,577.94 for est. II and $15,041.36
for est. 12. M. L. presented invoices #861218-1 for 335.62,
#861215-1 for $2,127.25, invoice #8406154 for $I, 275.00 and invoice
#8406152 $420.50.' J.E. Gaston moved, Russ Kilgore seconded
to approve as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
M.L. brought up some more figures on T-hangars. He had figured
out a cost of $100,000 for 8 T-hangars, schedule worked out over
15 years. Further discussion led to Buzz making a motion to
meet in January and decide once and for all if we are going with
T-hangar project. J.E. Gaston seconded and motion carried
unanimously.
Mason mentioned he had someone interested in dismantling
the Spitzer building. Discussion led to M.L. saying that
best way to handle would be to go out on bids. M.L. to
get wording up and get to secretary then we would proceed.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
