The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met August 20, 1986
at the City Municipal Complex, 161 N. Section St., Fairhope,
Alabama
Present: Mason McGowin, Chairman; members Jeanette
Puckett, Buzz Coiling, Jim Gaston, Russ Kilgore
Mason brought the board up to date on the project, saying
that the electrical sub had finally made it to the airport
but we were still on hold until we get the supplies in for
him. Russ interjected that the electrical contractor would
be expecting payment . He further talked about the lighting
work, striping, and new wind sock that we would need. That
the drought had killed most of the grass, that we would have
to replant to some extent. At this time the board approved
unanimously bills from M.L. Aust and Newell's estimate #8.
Motion by Jim Gaston, seconded by Buzz Coiling. Russ
said that there were some power lines that needed to come
down at the end of the runway. Jim Gaston moved to inform
engineer to get this taken care of, Buzz Coiling seconded
and motion carried unanimously. An estimated time of completion
of the project is mid -November.
Mason also reported that M.L. is still working on T-hangar project.
Mason asked Russ to get Meg to submit report on tie -down
agreements she presently has. He said he would.
Discussion on pole with beacon was held. Buzz moved to
remove pole, sandblast same and paint not to exceed a cost
of $1,000.00. Russ Kilgore seconded and motion carried
unanimously.
Mason also mentioned Meg's letter to Mayor stating that Rohr
is thinking about expanding and taking over large hangar
which puts her in violation of minimum standards, having
been notified the Board did not wish to take any action
at this time.
Mason mentioned letter he sent to Meg about housekeeping
and that they had done several things to improve problems
we had mentioned; trailer moved, using a different chemical
non -phenolics for restoring planes now. He did not know
about cover on septic tank or garbage problem.
Mason mentioned that we should invite Meg up just to discuss
how things are going. All agreed this was good idea.
There being no further business, meeting was duly adjourned.
