Meeting called to order at 4:01pm.
Motion carried to approve 4/4/2023 minutes.
Fels and Pier Congestion: Rosalie Stromme discussed with Chief of Police office on 4/21/2023
the possibility of having a Traffic Study completed on this section of South Mobile Street in
Fairhope; office decided that this is best handled through the Traffic Safety Control Committee.
Bill Hall wrote a memo on behalf of the Pedestrian & Bicycle Committee to Mayor Sullivan on
April 27, 2023 requesting authorization to approve implementation of the Sharrows “Share The
Road” signage and appliques on this section of South Mobile Street. If Mayor Sullivan approves
the Sharrows solution, an official Traffic Study will no longer be required.
Bike Repair Station and Additional Bike Racks:
*** Action item: Rosalie Stromme to contact Richard Johnson to determine status of
delivery of bike repair station and 6 bike racks into Fairhope warehouse.
Twin Beech & Summer Lakes intersection: Bill Hall wrote Pedestrian & Bicycle Committee
memo to Traffic Safety Control Committee on May 1, 2023 requesting a 3-point solution to this
intersection: 1. Install flashing crosswalk light; 2. Implement slower speed limit along this
roadway; 3. Designate this section of Twin Beech Road as a “School Zone”.
Triangle Property: Katie Bolton continues to meet on the Steering Committee for this project
occasionally to determine/negotiate design specifics to be included in Thompson Engineering’s
proposal. Their award was an 18-month contract and 6 months have already transpired.
New Business:
Baldwin County Connectivity Plan: Dione Heusell from Trailblazers updated this committee
on the progress being made county-wide regarding the Connectivity Plan. Design standards need
to be formalized throughout the county and their next meeting is set for July 2023.
Children’s Bike Safety Education: Dione Heusell from Trailblazers discussed with committee
the idea of hosting in the fall 2023 four separate Bike Safety Clinics at the each of the elementary
and middle school campuses outside of school hours. The current search is for someone who is
certified to teach these clinics from a liability and legal perspective.
Next scheduled meeting: June 6, 2023 at 4pm in the Library’s Second Floor Boardroom.
