The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met
July 16, 1985 at 8:00 A.M. at the City Adminis-
tration Building, 161 N. Section Street,
Fairhope, Alabama
Present: Chairman Russ Kilgore; members
Jim Gaston, Robert Colling, Mason
McGowin. M.L. Aust Engineer for
the project was also present
Russ presented to each member information
he had obtained on T-Hangars. He had projected
a total estimated cost of $92,446 for ten
T-hangars. He proposed rent for these hangars
at $100.00 per month for a total of $1200.00
The Chairman asked the Mayor to sit in and
listen to the proposal. He asked if the city
would consider making the $92,000 loan for
construction of 10 T-hangars on an annual
note. That we would require one year advance
rent from tenants, this income to pay note
payment. The Mayor said he did not see any
problem with this. Russ to send out letters
to see what kind of response we will get,
and ask for bids on 10 T-hangars. This was
put in the form of a motion by Mason McGowin
seconded by Jim Gaston and unanimously carried.
Russ did ask the Mayor if the City could do
the dirt work. The Mayor replied he thought
we could handle it, that we have several projects
taking our time now,.
At this time the Board discussed a request from
the Civil Air Patrol to leave their aircraft
on a spot on the south ramp rent free. Every
other aircraft owner has paid rental for space.
The Board decided to let them use it at this
time but if we get full and need the space
they would either have to pay or move the aircraft.
This was put in the form of a motion by Mason
McGowin seconded by Jim Gaston and unanimously
carried. A letter to be sent to Ms. Weller.
Russ brought up a problem with the property
we just bought. He said he had discussed it
with Jim Reid and that he advised that we
make an inspection of the property.
The engineer made a report on the project status.
Discussion led to a motion by Jim Gaston seconded
by Mason McGowin to accept the change submitted
by the engineer to declare access of 15 acres of
land located at the Northwest corner of airport
property and exchange this for 15.7 acres of land
on the S.E. section of land on airport property.
