April 29, 1982 at the City Administration Building, 387
Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama at 2:00 p.m.
Those present: Chairman Don Coogan; members
Jim Gaston, Gilbert Wesley, Buzz Colling, C.O.
McCawley, City Attorney Jim Reid, and Consulting
Engineer, M.L. Aust
Mr. Coogan thanked Mr. Wesley for his letter and the
other three he had received regarding hangar space
at the airport. He said this was documentation he
needed.
The Board discussed the possibility of using the
ramp area for Port-O-Ports, T-hangars.
Gilbert Wesley reported that having been asked by Don
to see about the hangar situation, he and Jim Gaston
had looked into it and were reporting, that there is
no hangar space available at this time, and the lease
states that the FBO is suppose to provide this space.
petition the City to provide space, or provide
space as Airport Board. The solution ideally would be
for Bass to provide it, as per the lease 10,000 sq ft
should be available for plane storage.
Mr. Coogan asked the Board if they wished to go into
the T-hangar business as a means of providing revenue
at the Airport. What if the FBO provides the space?
Would they want to proceed with looking into T-hangars?
Mr. Wesley said at this time he would be glad to just
have a place to put his plane.
Mr. Reid stated that he felt the best way to handle
this would be to have Bass come up and talk to the
Board and state the allegations to him, let him answer.
All agreed this would be best and set up a date of
May 17th at 5:00-5:30 p.m. as time to meet with him.
Don reiterated at this time that any proposition that
is presented to the Board for anything at the Airport
must be submitted in writing before it will be con-
sidered, and set out exactly what is wanted.
Mr. McCawley reported to the Board the figures on the
monthly fuel remittance received from Bass.
The Board also discussed fixing the shoulder along the
runway, have the City do it. Mr. Wesley remarked he
could get some figures from a contractor on it, M.L.
said he thought it might take 30-40,000 for project.
J.1.0
Mr. Coogan asked how much rental on T-hangars was at
different airports, and if we decide to go with this what
would we charge. J Gaston reported he was paying $45.00
at Foley.
The Board at this time adjourned, with Mr. Coogan and
Mr. Aust conferring on the ADAP-03 Project.
