The Airport Board of the City of Fairhope met August 7, 1981
at the City Administration Building of the City of Fairhope
at 10:30 A.M.
Those present: Russell Kilgore, Jim Gaston, Phil Bass
and Mayor James P. Nix
Mr. Kilgore asked Mayor Nix if there had been any progress
on increasing the number of people on the Airport Board from
3 to S. Mayor Nix replied that an ordinance had been introduced
at the last Council meeting. Further action to be taken 8/10/81.
At this time Mr. Bass reported to the Mayor that he was unable
to get long term financing for his operation at the Fairhope
Municipal Airport, Bass Jet Center. That he had been seeking
some help along these lines to keep his business going. He
mentioned that he has someone who is interestecL 'n b bonds,
but there were two items lease agreement t a e wished
to change; one being that a cap be placed on payments to the City
and two, that part which says that if the base operator sub -leases
to anyone, they have to meet the minimum standards.
The Mayor, Board members and Mr. Bass talked about the best way
to handle these requests.
After much discussion, they came up with adding an addendum to
paragraph Z of the Lease stating that "In no case will the
lease rental rate be more than tripled during the first fifteen(15)
years of this lease"
Also in paragraph 10 of the Minimum Standards delete the
end of the sentence "and any such subletting or assignment
shall be subject to all of the minimum standards herein set forth.
Add - Shall any such subletting or assignment be to another fixed
base operator, it is understood that the minimum standards herein
set forth shall apply.
This was agreeable to all present, now it will be taken back
to Mr. Bass's business associate to see if this was what he
had in mind, and agreeable to him. If it is, appropriate action
will be taken at the 8/10/81 Council meeting to amend the lease
and minimum standards.
