HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-05-2022 FHPL Board of Trustees Meeting Fairhope Public Library Board of Trustees Meeting Monday, December 5, 2022 Attendance: Anne Johnson, Tamara Dean, Debra Langham, Andy Parvin, Dan Stankoski, Randal Wright Council Liaison Jimmy Conyers absent. Meeting called to order at 4:00 pm. The minutes of the Board meeting of 10/17/2022 were approved. The Monthly Statistical report, Employee and the Financial reports were unavailable due to the Board meeting being held earlier this month because of the Holidays. Tamara presented HOOPLA stats as gaining in popularity and the initial investment may need to be adjusted upwards. New initiatives such as these are working and worth investing in. BCLC (Baldwin County Library Cooperative) is a great partner in promoting new projects. Old Business: Capital Campaign: Randall gave a report on the status of capital campaign fundraising. The Friends will continue to remind the community of this campaign and get it out to social media. Other fundraising ideas were discussed, including looking at more grant applications. The Chair will review applications from OWA, the Mapp Foundation and others. Also mentioned was the donation of a rare book which brought in nearly $10,000 which is going toward the campaign. Impact 100 grant: While a finalist, the Friends grant application to Impact 100 was not approved this year. Since work on the application has already been done, and Randal received positive feedback on the application and presentation, the Friends plan to resubmit next year. Andy suggested that there may be federal monies available to libraries; it may be worth contacting our Congressional representatives to pursue this possible funding source. More follow-up with the Rotary clubs will take place after the first of the year. All local clubs have indicated support of the library expansion, especially as they have a youth focus. Tamara mentioned that there are some 5,000 teens in the Fairhope area who could take advantage of the new teen space that will be a part of the upstairs renovation. Budget: The Library’s 2023 budget was approved at the City Council meeting September 26. No New Business. Motion to adjourn made by Debra & Randal and approved by voice vote. Meeting adjourned at 4:46pm. Respectfully Submitted: Debra Langham Secretary, DNP, FNP-BC
