HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-09-2020 Tree Committee Meeting MinutesTree Committee Meeting January 9, 2020 3p.m. Conference Room, City Hall Members present: Patrick Waldrop, Paul Fontenot, Greg Wittendorfer, Craig Tappan, Skip Jones Paul Merchant (left at 3:35 p.m.) and Richard Johnson (arrived at 3:35 p.m). Absent: Jay Robinson and Joanne Hogan. Gayle Fogarty took minutes. Guests: Courtney McDonald and Paige Crawford Paul Fontenot called the meeting to order at 3:06 p.m. The minutes from the meeting held on October 17, 2019 were reviewed and approved, pt motion by Skip Jones and 2 nd by Patrick Waldrop and unanimously carried. Paul Fontenot introduced Stacy Howell to the Tree Committee members. Paul informed Stacey that the Wisteria Garden Club is responsible for the Treasured Tree program and presents the award each year during the Arbor Day program. Stacey informed the committee members that she would be out of town during the 2020 Arbor Day program. Patrick Wal drop stated that he can present the award this year in her absence. Patrick added that they would work together and discuss the Treasured Tree program. Patrick Waldrop informed the committee members that packaging of the seedlings for Arbor Day will be held on February 7, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the City of Fairhope Pecan building. There was general discussion among the committee members regarding the program and what trees will be given out during Arbor Day. Patrick informed the members that there is a vacancy on the Tree Committee, he suggested Steve Lyda, a resident from Silverhill as a potential applicant to fill the vacancy. There was general discussion with Richard Johnson and the committee regarding the trees throughout town. There was general discussion among the committee members as to which business would receive a 2020 Arbor Day Beautification Award. The committee selected the following businesses: tu-Community Bank
