HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-11-2018 Tree Committee Meeting MinutesTree Committee Meeting January 11, 2018 10:30 a.m. Delchamps Room Members present: Patrick Waldrop, Skip Jones, Jo Hogan, Paul Fontenot, Paul Merchant. Gayle Fogarty took minutes. Absent: Craig Tappan, Jeff Davies, Harriett Gutknecht, Richard Johnson and Jay Robinson. Paul Fontenot called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. The minutes from the meeting held on October 26, 2017 were reviewed and approved, 1st motion by Skip Jones and 2nd by Patrick Waldrop and unanimously carried. Patrick Waldrop asked that Gayle Fogarty bring a list of current committee members and the guidelines to become a member of the tree committee to the next meeting. Jo Hogan stated that the Fairhope Garden Club would like to announce at Arbor Day that they will be giving a gift (money to purchase a tree to be planted in their name) to the City of Fairhope. Arbor Day: There was general discussion among the committee members regarding the beautification awards, discussion of the poster contest, Paul Merchant informed the group that bagging of the seedlings would take place on February 16 at 1 p.m. After general discussion the committee determined the following businesses will receive the beautification awards: •Fritz Harshberger, D.M.D., Advanced Dental Comfort for Exceptional Consideration in Sitingthe Building and for Outstanding Use of Environmental Practices•Gaillard Builders, Inc. for Outstanding Architectural Structure and Tree Preservation•USA Mitchell Cancer Institute Kilborn Clinic for Exceptional Use of Environmental Practicesin an Institutional Structure•Colony Animal Clinic for Exceptional Attention to Appearance of Existing Historic Structureand Siting Major Expansion of the StructureThere being no other business, the committee adjourned at 11 :05 a.m.
