HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-05-2015 Tree Committee Meeting MinutesTree Committee Meeting November 5, 2015 Delchamps Room Members present: Jeff Davies, Harriet Gutknecht, Jo Hog� Patrick Waldrop, Paul Fontenot. Absent: Rich Mueller; City Council member, Allison Chang, Skip Jones, Jennifer Fidler; exofficio and David Dyson. Gayle Fogarty took minutes. Guest: Paul Merchant of City of Fairhope Public Works Paul Fontenot called the meeting to order. The minutes from the meeting held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 were reviewed and approved l st motion by Harriett Gutknecht and 2 nd by Patrick Waldrop and unanimously carried. New Member-Paul Fontenot welcomed new member-Jeff Davies to the Tree Committee. Harriett Gutknecht provided an update to Jeff Davies and the group on the beach trail and treasured trees brochures. Old Business -Jennifer Fidler informed the group that she is working on the Urban Forestry � Patrick Waldrop added that be believes the City has a good chance of receiving the grant. Patrick asked where the Treasured Trees form is on the website. Arbor Day-� was general discussion among the group regarding Arbor Day and the date set for next year is Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10 a.m. The group agreed to meet on January 14, 2016, they �ill review the new and renovated construction in town for 2015 and choose the Arbor Day Beautification A ward winners. Paul Fontenot suggested having an enlarged photo of each winner on display at Arbor Day on February 27, he also mentioned that the photos should be added to the City website. Live Oak in front of Lutheran Church -Paul Fontenot informed the group that he and Patrick Wal drop need to meet with Gary Ickes and Chris Frances regarding the lack of root space for this Live Oak. New Business-Paul Fontenot mentioned that he would like Patrick Waldrop to look into the possibility of having a member of the Mobile Tree Commission speak to the Fairhope Tree Committee. The committee is interested in finding out how the trees on the Highway 98 Corridor can be better protected. 1here was discussion of setting future Tree Committee meeting dates, the committee agreed on the following dates, the meetings will be held in the Delchamps Room. •February 11, 2016•May 12, 2016•August 11, 2016•November 10, 2016There being no other business, the committee adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
