We, the undersigned members of the Fairhope Airport Board,
do hereby waive notice of a special called meeting to be held
25 September, 1979 at 4:15 p.m., City Administration Building,
387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama, for the purpose of
passing a resolution declaring a state of emergency for
the Fairhope Airport Electrical and Electronic and surrounding
protective systems due to damage received from Hurricare Frederic on
September 12-13, 1979.

The Fairhope Airport Board, City of Fairhope, Alabama, met in special session
at 4:15 p.m., City Administration Building, 337 Fairhope Avenue,
on Tuesday, September 25, 1979, for the purpose of actions necessary
to the emergency situation caused by Hurricane Frederic.
Present were Chairman J. Russell Kilgore, members Mac McCawley, and Jim
Gaston.
Jim Gaston moved, seconded by Mac McCawley for the adoption of the
following resolution. :'lotion passed unanimously.

jMT;EAS, on September 12-13, 1979, Hurricane Frederic
crossed through Baldwin County, Alabama and
IMREAS, Hurricane Frederic's 100 mile per hour plus winds did
destroy several buildings on the Fairhope Municipal Airport and,
IMEREAS, the Airport Board of the City of Fairhope, Alabama
did have all electrical and electronic devices and related
equipment and all protective structures surrounding such equip-
ment destroyed by Hurricane Frederic and
TIE REAS, the electrical and electronic systems and equip-
ment and protective surroundings are vital to the safety and
operation of the Fairhope Municipal Airport, and
IMMEAS, the President of the United States has declared
the area in which the Fairhope Municipal Airport is situated
a Disaster Area, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the City of Fairhope,
Alabama has authorized the Airport Board of the City of Fairhope
to act as its agent to procure any Federal Assistance and monies
pertaining to the electrical and electronic systems and surround-
ing protective structure on the Fairhope Mmicipal Airport;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Airport Board of the City
of Fairhope, Alabama that a state of emergency does exist in
that the electrical and electronic systems and protective surround-
ings were destroyed by Hurricane Frederic, and that those systems
and protective surroundings must be put back to an operational
status at the earliest possible time for the safety and welfare of
the flying public.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an electrical -electronic construction
contractor, fluent in the knowledge of airport systems be hired on an emergen-
cy basis with start and completion time being of essence for the re-
storation of the electrical and electronic systems and their protective
surroundings, and that the Chairman of the Airport Board of the City
of Fairhope, Alabama be instructed to apply to the Federal Emergency
Management Association for a monetary grant to reimburse the Airport
Board for all related emergency work completed.
