Alabama Coastal Cleanup Labor Day Holiday Schedule FJCC Application is open
WC Majors Stadium at Fairhope Municipal Park is getting a long-awaited upgrade this summer.
Our stadium has served our community well for 45 years and
after several years of planning, meetings, and discussion, we are looking forward to creating a more inclusive fan experience for
all but especially those that may be more physically challenged with the addition of ramping and handicap seating areas.
In addition, a jumbotron, funded by a partnership between the
City of Fairhope and the Fairhope High School, will be installed before the start of the 2021 football season. This screen will
make the experience at the stadium even more exciting, while also giving the City an opportunity to host other events at the facility.
The staple of Fairhope Parks and Recreation, since construction in 1976-77 it has hosted Friday night football games, boys and girls soccer games and graduation ceremonies for Fairhope High School. The host site for Baldwin County Special Olympics each year, the stadium has hosted many years of Senior Bowl practices and is the current home stadium for the Fairhope Storm semi-pro football team.
We are excited about the changes that will make this beloved stadium more inviting and accessible to everyone who uses it.

Does your teen show a desire for leadership and public ser-
vice? The Fairhope Junior City Council could be a perfect
place for him or her to serve!
The application process for the 2021-2022 Fairhope Junior
City Council (FJCC) starts August 1st. The FJCC exists to serve
as the youth’s voice in the City while introducing members to
City government and its processes.
Members are expected to attend City Council meetings when
necessary to observe government in action. The FJCC also
makes various presentations to the City Council during work
sessions each years. Members also serve as a youth outreach
arm of City government, engaging youth through projects
throughout the City.
Applications for the 2021-2022 Fairhope Junior City Council
will be accepted August 1-31, 2021. The group’s 10 members
will be appointed by the Mayor and a committee of community
and City professionals.
Applications and instructions for applying are available at
www.fairhopeal.gov/government/city-council/fairhope-ju-
nior-city-council.
The Fairhope Police Department was recently awarded first
place in an essay/video contest for bio-hazard safety.
The department will be presented with a $5,000 award and
personal protection kits for all Fairhope officers. The contest
was hosted by Aftermath who are specialists in trauma clean-
ing and bio-hazards. Fairhope was chosen from fifty law en-
forcement agencies who participated.
Exposure to a bloodborne pathogen is a daily risk for law
enforcement officers. From chaotic crime scenes, urgent re-
sponses to motor vehicle accidents and the unpredictable na-
ture of road-side searches, the Patrol Officer is at an enhanced
risk for contracting a bloodborne pathogen infection; there-
after, so are their families. It is only through diligent training
and proper equipment can members of law enforcement re-
duce their vulnerability. With the help from Aftermath, Fair-
hope will be able to raise agency standards with methodical
best practices and proper equipment.
Are you considering a whole house gas generator for your home? To make sure you can receive gas service from Fairhope
Utilities, call our Gas Department at the beginning and the end of your process.
Before you make your generator purchase, reach out to the
Gas Department at 251-928-8003 and get scheduled for an assessment. While the appointment could take up to a week,
weather-permitting, this step is important. A technician will visit your home to determine the most important piece of the
puzzle: if service can be provided.
After it is determined to be possible, the technician will mea-sure for service and will provide you with a required service
release agreement that must be signed and returned with your deposit when you are ready for service to begin.
After your purchase, permitting and installation is completed,
you will again call the Gas Department to schedule service.
It is also important to note that no services will be installed without proof of the generator or the installed generator pad.
This allows for fewer service interruptions as moving services after installation is timely and will result in increased cost for
the homeowner.
Installation of the service will occur within 3-4 weeks after the Gas Department determines the generator and/or pad is in-
stalled and the deposit has been paid.
Fairhope Utilities strives to make this process as easy and efficient as possible. For more information or questions,
call 251-928-8003.

I hope you and your family are enjoying summer
and looking forward to the school year. The City of
Fairhope has been hard at work improving W. C.
Majors Field Football Stadium for the 2021-2022
sports season. The upgrades include adding ramps
and wheelchair-accessible seating areas, as well
as the installation of a jumbotron, thanks to a col-
laboration with the City of Fairhope and Fairhope
High School. I hope to see you in the stands at one
of the many games this fall!
Have a great summer!
Sherry Sullivan, Mayor
