Owners remain Terry Thompson and Will Carlton, in an LLC WCTT. Baldwin Genealogical Society registered the Lewis House. Listed in the Alabama Landmarks and Heritage. Baldwin Shield. ●2) 501c3. Will cost $2000 to create a 501c3 (501c3). Explain our efforts on behalf of the house. Keep us in the loop. ●[Follow-up: Lewis House torn down November 1]. 2) Funding and Transferring money to 501c3. Seek permission from the city: 501c3 to be used for educational activities, modest expenses to direct preservation efforts. Discussed Gary’s 501c3 for Earth Day, Mobile Bay Incorporated. Tax Deductions. Precedent of Library. Board functions outside of the city. Library has 2 501c3s. Fairhope Preservation Foundation. 3) Summarized conversation with Ken Kleban and updated on Close Encounters House Preservation. Kleban preparing an “Adult Active” community at the property, with plans to relocate the house to an interior part of the parcel for offices. 4) City Comprehensive Plan Update-Reviewed Accumulated Comments. Determined more work to be done. Jessica Walker suggests end of the year for the city comprehensive plan unveiling. Mayor not satisfied with the traffic issues. 5) Planning Commission – Gary Govers does attend. Recorded on you tube. First Mondays of the Month at 5:00pm. Agenda and press packet + 200-300 pages. Planning Committee doesn’t address all changes. Small scale stuff. Need to institutionalize regular monitoring of the agenda. 6) American Legion, just submitted plans to the city, depends upon how much money they raised. Asked $500,000 from Single Tax. Skip will call Rebecca Bryant and ask what status of the plans and for the Hardware Store. 7) Barbershop, first African American barber in town. Tasks –Mara to call Lewis house owners and the Alabama commission, send links to Holly and Amy; pass on Amy’s application for membership to city clerk for listing in the city agenda. Amy- homework planning commission. Skip-Will call Lisa about money and will call Rebecca about Hardware and American Legion Gary—will send Mara a blog about the Barber Shop.
