HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-20-2022 FHPL Board of Trustees MeetingFHPL BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING 06/20/22 The meeting was called to order at 4 :02 PM with the first order of business accepting the minutes of the prev ious board meeting held on 04/18/22 . Monthly Statistics: A review of the fiscal year month-to-date performance statistics wa s presented , and approved by Andy and Anne . The state of AL requires the number of visits to be segmented by age group . The number of visits in May increased (315). The board unanimously approved all three stat ist ical reports to be accepted . New Business : 1) RSA onetime payment was made to retired members & beneficiaries of deceased ret i rees who ret i red prior to March 1, 2022 . Cost for seven retired employees is $2,650, taken from deferred revenue. 2) The Holiday schedule for 2022-2023 was approved by the Board, with the addition of the Juneteenth holiday for 6/19/23 which sends positive message to the community 3) Safety Deposit Box closed 5/23/22, saving a monthly fee $60. Old Business: 1) Single Tax Presentation-June meeting did not include a vote on the Library's proposal; Anne Brooks will attend next meeti ng with Tamara to help answer questions . 2) Impact 100 grant submitted-discussed upcoming site visit in July-August . The process is competitive, but the Friends submitted a strong proposal. 3) Banking-PNC Update 4) Update on FY 23 budget meeting with the Mayor: Di rector and two Board members met with the Mayor and city Treasurer i n June. The Mayor requested more documentation wh ich the Director submitted; this included salary comparisons, payroll details and actuals of current budget year . 5) Update on Capital Campaign -Brochure created by Randal to pass to the Rotary clubs and other potential donors. 6) Budget Discussion -Raises for employees PT & FT, Ma intenance money will be spent) after the Summer Reading Program 7) Sw itching to Alabama Super Computer Authority fo r Internet access; AT&T is the provider; no set date yet 8) COLA discussed none noted for Library employees 9) Outreach by the Director continues to local organizations regard i ng library serv ices and the upcoming 2nd floor addit ion (specifically the Fairhope Kiwanis Club and the Point Clear Rotary Club); suggestion for a combined ask of all 3 Rotary clubs in Fairhope . We will work with Joe St range to put pictures in the club's newsletter. 10) Elevator maintenance -parts shortage which is affect i ng both program and day-to-day operations of the library 11) Library User Feedback : Very complimentary, unsolicited feedback was given by Fairhope citizens and visitors . Most common feedback was praising the courteous, professional and knowledgeable staff. Other comments inc luded "Favorite Library in the US", "Enjoy using HOOPLA" and "Well run , best thing in Fairhope ". Thanks to everyone for their hard work! Meeting adjourning at 5:17 pm .
