HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023 SeptOctLace up your shoes because a new track and field complex is coming to the City of Fairhope. This new complex will meet current high school standards and will offer the potential to host future high school championships. The project includes a total renovation of the entire complex including eight lane all-weather track, a high jump pit, triple jump, pole vault and sand pits. The new track and field complex will allow Fairhope High School to expand on existing sports and programs, and encourage more students to compete and be engaged outside of the classroom. The total project is estimated at $2.7 million with contributions from Baldwin County Board of Education and Fairhope Single Tax Corporation. “We have many successful track and field athletes within our community and this facility will serve as the venue for these young athletes to train and compete on their home surface. The new track will also provide the opportunity for the citizens of Fairhope to utilize a top quality competition surface for running, walking, and fitness training,“ said Pat White, Director of Parks and Recreation. The area will also be used for other recreational activities and intramurals. Residents will be invited to utilize the new complex when not being used by students. The complex is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.
