HomeMy WebLinkAbout2023 AprilCity Sketches MARCH / APRIL 2023 Fairhope Museum to unveil new exhibit in March Farmer’s Market begins again Easter bunny hops into Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival The Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival Foundation is proud to announce that the 71st annual Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival will take place March 17, 18, and 19, 2023, in beautiful downtown Fairhope. Recently named one of the TOP 15 art shows in the nation, and featured by Southern Living Magazine, this prestigious show will showcase more than 200 artists from across the country including many from the Southeast, and attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to Fairhope this year. An Eastern Shore tradition for more than seventy years, there’s something for everyone at the Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival! In addition to artists’ displays, guests will enjoy live entertainment, delicious cuisine from the food court, and enjoy exploring local shops and restaurants. There will also be a children’s tent with activities planned each day and appearances by the new 2023 Dogwood Trail Court. This year’s 2023 Dogwood Trail Court includes Zoie Pratt, Morgan Bias, Anna Bowler Conyers, Riley Mellett, Ryann Turner and Abigail English. For more information on shuttle services and bike valet, event map, participating artists list, and more, please visit FairhopeArtsandCraftsFestival.com. 45th Annual Spring Fever Chase 10K and 2-mile fun run Join Thomas Hospital and Wells Fargo on Saturday, March 18 at 8 AM for the 45th Annual Spring Fever Chase, a 10K and 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk that winds through beautiful downtown Fairhope overlooking Mobile Bay. The 10K is accurately measured, flat to rolling, with five water stations along the route and one at the finish. The finish line clock records unofficial time. For official time, stay in line in the chute after crossing the finish line. For more information, visit www.springfeverchase.org NEWS HIGHLIGHTSMARCH / APRIL 2023 City Sketches Easter Bunny Hops into Fairhope Easter Sunrise Service Mike Ford Tennis Center Spring Programs 35th Annual Mayor’s Golf Tournament benefiting FEEF The four-person scramble on Thursday, March 23 will offer morning and afternoon start times, breakfast, lunch, drinks, on-course contests, winning prizes and more at Quail Creek Golf Course. All proceeds from the tournament are distributed by the Fairhope Educational Enrichment Foundation (FEEF) directly back into Fairhope’s five public schools. These funds provide programs and equipment to our students and teachers that are not made possible through traditional funding the schools receive. For more information, visit www.feefonline.org. The Easter bunny will visit Fairhope from 10 am to Noon on Saturday, April 1, in front of the Fairhope Welcome Center. Parents are welcome to bring their cameras to take Easter bunny photos. The Eastern Shore Optimist Club will host the Easter Sunrise Service at 6:30 am on April 9 at the rose garden at the Fairhope Municipal Pier. A local pastor will be presiding over the service. Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair. MARCH / APRIL 2023 Earth Day Mobile Bay 2023Fairhope Museum to unveil new exhibit in March Farmer’s Market begins again Join the Fairhope Museum of History on Friday, March 17 for the Grand Opening of the exhibit, “Vision of Fairhope”. The new exhibit will feature select, century-old, photographs, reproduced into 3D viewable images. The images will connect viewers to the people of Fairhope’s founding years in an all-new way never exhibited at the Fairhope Museum of History before! The museum is located at 24 N. Section Street in Downtown Fairhope. They are open weekly from Tuesday through Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM with free admission. Earth Day Mobile Bay 2023 will be held on Saturday, April 22, at Fairhope’s South Beach Park from 11 am to 7 pm. The festival will attract participants from Mobile and Baldwin Counties and beyond. For more than 30 years, Earth Day Mobile Bay has demonstrated community support and involvement. It is a free event celebrating the Earth and the environment. It will host environmental displays and activities, a wide variety of interactive educational opportunities for children and adults, and an exciting live music lineup, all in a family-fun atmosphere. This year, with the theme of how to address climate change at the local level, the festival’s environmental activities and displays will include offerings for protecting the environment with ecological energy sources, green building, organic and local food, healthy living, and more. All this will take place in Fairhope’s beautiful beach park. Also as part of the event, the City of Fairhope will have FREE document shredding from 10 am to 2 pm. The City of Fairhope will host its Outdoor Spring Farmer’s Market from 3 pm to 6 pm on Thursdays beginning April 6 and ending June 29. The market will be set up behind the Fairhope Public Library and will feature local farmers, bakers, fresh Baldwin County produce, fresh-cut flowers, local honey, plants, baked goods and more. Entertainment will include live music and kids’ activities.
