HomeMy WebLinkAbout02-28-2011 Work SessionSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( )( The City Council met in a Work Session at 5:27 p.m., City Hall, Delchamps Room, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday, 28 February 2011. Present were: Present were Council President Lonnie L. Mixon, Councilmembers : Debbie W. Quinn, Daniel Stankoski, Michael A . Ford, and Rick Kingrea, and City Clerk Lisa A . Hanks . Mayor Timothy M. Kant and City Attorney Marion E. Wynne were absent. Council President Mixon called the meeting to order at 5 :27 p.m . The following topics were discussed: • Gary Gover, Historic Preservation Committee , gave an update on the historic properties in Fairhope. There are four districts located in Fairhope: Bay Front with 118 properties , Downtown with 66 properties , White A venue with 8 properties, and Montrose with 15 properties. Fairhope has the most properties in Baldwin County. Mr. Gover recommended the subject areas to the City Council for further discussion . Many others spoke in favor of having historic districts and a commission for Fairhope. Councilmember Quinn mentioned the Committee hoped to present an ordinance to the City Council. • Erin Langley, Jitterbug Theatre Projections , briefly explained her request for a fee waiver for use of the City 's facilities and resources and what they give back to the community. City Administrator Gregg Mims asked how many other production groups use the Civic Center. Ms. Sullivan replied Creative Outlet, Children Dance Theatre , Jitterbug Theatre Productions , and Bay Shore Ballet. There being no further business to come before the City Council, the meeting was duly adjourned at 5:50 p.m.
