COUNTY OF BALDWIN )(
The City Council met in a Work Session at 4:30p.m.,
Del champs Room, 161 North Section Street,
Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Thursday, 6 March 2014.
Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Rich Mueller,
Diana Brewer (arrived at 4:50p.m.), Michael A. Ford, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Timothy
M. Kant, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. City Attorney Marion E . Wynne was absent.
Council President Burrell called the meeting to order at 4:30p.m .
The following topics were discussed:
• Councilmember Mueller gave a brief update on the Fairhope Environmental
Advisory Board ; and announced that Gary Gover is the Chairman. He said
concerns for our environment were discussed .
• Council President Burrell stated that the Industrial Development Board met
which wan an organizational meeting. Bob Gentle was elected Chairman ;
Robert Lee was elected Secretaryffreasurer; and Carl Wegener was elected Vice
Chairman. They want to prepare a package for new businesses. Council
President Burrell again mentioned a Canadian business that may be interested in
Fairhope.
• Mayor Kant stated that Tom Yeager, Chairman of the Harbor Board, is
requesting proposals for leasing the building at the boat slips; and then will
recommend to the City Council. He mentioned there are no public restrooms
down there .
He mentioned a meeting with the soccer organization to finalize the drawing of
the new Soccer Complex .
Mayor Kant also mentioned he was misinformed about the price of the Caprice
Sedans and the Tahoes ; and both are about the same.
He said the County Commission adopted a resolution for the City to take over
County Road 13 from Highway 34 to Mosley Road ; and from Fairhope Avenue
north to resurface within 36 months . The County will deed the property to
Fairhope .
• Nancy Wilson , City Treasurer, addressed the City Council regarding a request for
proposals that will be going out for credit card processing and equipment. She
also mentioned tips are now being received on credit cards at the golf course.
• Mayor Kant said the TAP Grant will be on the ne xt agenda; and this will be the
third time the City has applied .
• Councilmember Brewer gave an update on the E ducation Advisory Committee
and the new members were given the history of the committee ; and they
reviewed the proposals from the five principals. She said the some did not meet
the criteria, but will make a recommendation at the next meeting .

A sub-committee with be appointed to review the process and criteria for future
proposals . Chairman Bob Riggs will be doing a presentation to the City Council.
• Jonathan Smith , Planning Director, addressed the City Council and announced
the Comprehensive Plan meeting will be held March 20, 2014 at 5:00p.m.
• Mayor Kant mentioned private roads and citizens coming forward requesting
maintenance. He said there may be retention ponds and road needing work. If
we open the door for one , others will come. Southland Place and the drainage
issues were mentioned by Mayor Kant. Council President Burrell stated the road
must be in good order before it is taken over .
There being no further business to come before the City Council, the meeting was
duly adjourned at 5:24p.m.
