HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-23-2019 City Council Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COLTNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 4:30 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday. 23 December 2019. Present were Council President Jack Burrell, Councilmembers: Jay Robinson, Jimmy Conyers, Robert Brown, and Kevin Boone, City Attorney Marcus E. McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Mayor Karin Wilson was absent. There being a quorum present, Council President Burrell called the meeting to order. The invocation was given Reverend Matt McCoIlum, Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Councilmember Conyers moved to approve minutes of the 9 December 2019, regular meeting; minutes of the 9 December 2019, work session; and minutes of the 9 December 2019, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Brown, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. The following individual spoke during Public Participation for Agenda Items: 1) Francis "Paul" Ripp, 22985 High Ridge Road, The Ripp Report, and Backstory Podcast, addressed the City Council regarding Agenda Items Number 6 and Number 12: an Ordinance to amend the East Park PUD by Mr. Banihill; and a resolution for Jack Burrell to negotiate a temporary farming rights lease for the approximately 114 acres of land located on the northwest comer of County Road 13 and 32. Mr. Ripp mentioned traffic issues with prior developments; and hopes the apartment complex gets certificate of occupancies for all phases. He brought up the lease on the 1 14 acres of property and said nothing will get developed for years. Councilmember Robinson thanked Paige Crawford and Jessica Walker for the successful Christmas Parade. He wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Councilmember Conyers wished everyone a safe and Merry Christmas. Councilmember Boone wished everyone a Merry Christmas Council President Burrell wished everyone a Merry Christmas and echoed Councilmember Robinson on a great Christmas Parade. Council President Burrell said that if no one objects Agenda Item Number 8 will be addressed at this time, so employees will know if they have a whole day on Christmas Eve.
