HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-09-2019 Regular Meeting MinutesSTATE OF ALABAMA )( COUNTY OF BALDWIN )( The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 6:00 p.m., Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday. 9 December 2019. Present were Councilmembers: Robert Brown (Presiding Official), Jimmy Conyers, and Kevin Boone, Mayor Karin Wilson, City Attorney Marcus E. McDowell, and City Clerk Lisa A. Hanks. Council President Jack Burrell and Councilmember Jay Robinson were absent. There being a quorum present, Councilmember Brown called the meeting to order. The invocation was given by Deacon Francis Zieman of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Councilmember Conyers moved to approve minutes of the 25 November 2019, regular meeting; minutes of the 25 November 2019, work session; and minutes of the 25 November 2019, agenda meeting. Seconded by Councilmember Boone, motion passed unanimously by voice vote. Mayor Wilson addressed the City Council with the following Power Point Presentation found at the end of the minutes. Parade. The following individual spoke during Public Participation for Agenda Items: 1) David Wetzel, 10242 Windmill, addressed the City Council regarding properties outside the City limits and said they could petition the State of Alabama for zoning outside the City limits. He commented many municipalities have land use zoning outside their limits; and said there is multiple case studies. Mr. Wetzel suggested the City Council to send a request to the State to grant the City of Fairhope zoning outside its limits. Councilmember Conyers thanked everyone for attending our great Christmas Councilmember Boone thanked City employees for a great Christmas Parade. Councilmember Brown mentioned the Fairhope City Council bartending at the Fairhope Brewery, Friday, December 14, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with all tips going to the Fairhope Education Enrichment Foundation. A Public Hearing was held as advertised on a proposed ordinance to amend Zoning Ordinance No. 1253. Councilmember Boone introduced in writing an ordinance to rezone the property of the Rosetta Wasp and Mildred Brown from R-2 Medium Single Family Residential District to B-3b Tourist Resort Commercial Service District.
