AT 5:30 P.M.; FAIRHOPE MUNICIPAL COMPLEX COUNCIL CHAMBER;
1 6 1 NORTH SECTION STREET; FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA 36532; ON
MONDAY 23 NOVEMBER 1 998.
PRESENT WERE MAYOR JAMES P. Nix; COUNCILMEMBER JOHN V.
DUCK, MICHAEL A. FORD, DEBBIE W. QUINN, AND WILLIAM H. JONES; CITY
ATTORNEY MARION E. WYNNE, AND CITY CLERK GENIECE W. JOHNSON.
COUNCILMEMBER JEANETTE PUCKETT WAS ABSENT.
THERE BEING A QUORUM PRESENT, MAYOR NIX CALLED THE MEETING
TO ORDER. COUNCILMEMBER JONES MOVED TO APPROVE MINUTES OF THE
9 NOVEMBER 1 998, REGULAR MEETING. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER
QUINN, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
A PUBLIC HEARING WAS HELD AS ADVERTISED ON A PROPOSED
ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE ZONING ORDINANCE. COUNCILMEMBER DUCK
INTRODUCED IN WRITING ORDINANCE No. 1 043. THE PLANNING & ZONING
COMMISSION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ORDINANCE. THE ORDINANCE
WILL RE -ZONE KLUMPP FAMILY LIMITED PARTNERSHIP PROPERTY, LOCATED
SOUTH OF IDLEWILD SUBDIVISION UNIT II, OFF COUNTY ROAD 48, FROM R-A
RESIDENTIAL AGRICULTURAL TO R-2 RESIDENTIAL MEDIUM DENSITY SINGLE
FAMILY DISTRICT. NO ONE PRESENT WAS OPPOSED TO THE AMENDMENT. IN
ORDER TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION COUNCILMEMBER QUINN MOVED TO
SUSPEND THE RULES. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER JONES MOTION TO
SUSPEND THE RULES PASSED UNANIMOUSLY BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: AYE -
DUCK, FORD, QUINN, NIX, AND JONES. NAY -NONE. COUNCILMEMBER DUCK
THEN MOVED FOR FINAL ADOPTION OF ORDINANCE NO. 1 043. SECONDED
BY COUNCILMEMBER JONES, MOTION FOR FINAL ADOPTION PASSED
UNANIMOUSLY BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: AYE -DUCK, FORD, QUINN, NIX, AND
JONES. NAY -NONE.

RESOLUTION NO. 614-98
WHEREAS, THE PROJECT IS DESIGNED TO UPDATE THE OLD (AT LEAST 1 4 YEARS)
HISTORIC SURVEY OF FAIRHOPE TO INCLUDE CHANGES IN NATIONAL REGISTER
PROPERTIES, AND ADDITIONAL HOMES THAT HAVE REACHED 50 YEAR MARK AND INCLUDE
HISTORIC RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL AREAS OF THE CITY, AND
WHEREAS, THE SURVEY MAY BE USED TO SET PROPOSED BOUNDARIES FOR LOCAL
HISTORIC DISTRICTS, AND ADD NEW PROPERTIES TO THE NATIONAL REGISTER, AND
WHEREAS, THE USE OF A CONSULTANT TO CONDUCT A SET NUMBER OF PUBLIC
MEETINGS TO:
A. PROVIDE EDUCATION ON BENEFITS OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION;
B. BUILD CONSENSUS ON THE BEST AVENUE TO PROTECT LOCAL HISTORIC
AREAS;
C. USE CONSENSUS TO HELP DEVELOP DESIGN STANDARDS FOR EACH
PROPOSED HISTORIC DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, BASED ON BROAD COMMUNITY INPUT, WE WOULD NEXT HAVE GLENN
HARBECK, THE COMMUNITY PLANNER CONSULTANT REPORT BACK TO THE CITY ON HIS
FINAL STUDY AND MOVE TOWARD THE PRESERVATION OF FAIRHOPE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF
FAIRHOPE, FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA THAT THE COUNCIL AGREES TO MATCH THE FUNDS
OF THE ALABAMA CULTURAL RESOURCES PRESERVATION TRUST FUND GRANT, ALABAMA
HISTORICAL COMMISSION, MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,000.00, IN
ORDER THAT A CONSULTANT MAY BE PROVIDED TO UPDATE AND COMPLETE THE HISTORIC
SURVEY OF FAIRHOPE.

RESOLUTION NO. 615-98
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE,
ALABAMA, that Mayor James P. Nix is hereby authorized to execute an amendment to
the lease dated 28 June 1995, between the CITY OF FAIRHOPE, Acting through its
FAIRHOPE AIRPORT BOARD, and TELEDYNE CONTINENTAL MOTORS, a
division of Teledyne Industries, Inc. This lease will be extended for one (1) years,
expiration date 23 June 1999, with the renewal options remaining the same, and the rent
is to remain the same at $7,000.00 per month.
