PRESENT WERE MAYOR NAMES P. NIX; COUNCILMEMBERS JOHN V. DUCK, MICHAEL A. FORD, DEBBIE W. QUINN, JEANETTE PUCKETT, AND WILLIAM H. JONES; CITY ATTORNEY MARION E. WYNNE, AND CITY CLERK GENIECE W. JOHNSON. NO ONE WAS ABSENT. THERE BEING A QUORUM PRESENT, MAYOR NIX CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER. COUNCILMEMBER JONES MOVED TO APPROVE MINUTES OF THE 09 FEBRUARY 1 998 REGULAR MEETING. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER QUINN, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. COUNCILMEMBER JONES MOVED TO JOIN THE COUNTY COMMISSION IN HOLDING A REFERENDUM REGARDING THE SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON SUNDAY. THIS WILL BE AN ITEM PLACED ON THE BALLOT DURING THE 2 JUNE 1 998, PRIMARY ELECTION. THIS WILL BE AT NO COST TO THE CITY. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER PUCKETT, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. COUNCILMEMBER FORD MOVED FOR THE ADOPTION OF THE FOLLOWING RESOLUTION. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER JONES, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. RESOLUTION NO. 58- f- 98 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, THAT MAYOR JAMES P. NIX IS HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO SIGN A BEVERAGE CART LEASE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE GRILL AT QUAIL CREEK AT QUAIL CREEK GOLF COURSE. THE TERM OF THE LEASE SHALL COMMENCE ON I MARCH 1998 AND SHALL EXPIRE ON THE DATE THAT IS THREE (3) YEARS FOLLOWING THE COMMENCEMENT DATE. THE LEASEE SHALL PAY TO THE LEASOR AS RENT FOR THE ENTIRE TERM IN CONSECUTIVE EQUAL MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS OF $225.00 EACH. ADOPTED THIS THE 23'°D D< ATT _ GENIECE W. THERE WERE MANY SUPPORTERS PRESENT. NO ONE PRESENT WAS OPPOSED TO THE LICENSE. THERE WAS POLICE APPROVAL OF THE APPLICANT. COUNCILMEMBER DUCK MOVED TO APPROVE THE ASSURANCE OF THE LICENSE. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER PUCKETT, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. THE FAIRHOPE BAND CLUB, PRESIDENT, LORI D. LEFF ADDRESSED TO COUNCIL REQUESTING PERMISSION TO USE THE FAIRHOPE MUNICIPAL PIER BEACHFRONT PARK ON SATURDAY, 2 MAY 1998, FROM 8:00 AM UNTIL DARK FOR A JAZZ FESTIVAL. PROCESSES FROM THE FESTIVAL WILL BENEFIT THE FAIRHOPE HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAM. COUNCILMEMBER DUCK MOVED TO GRANT THE REQUEST. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER QUINN, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY. COUNCILMEMBER PUCKETT MOVED TO GRANT THE UNITED CEREBRAL PALSY REQUEST TO HOLD A CENTURY RIDE AND USE THE FAIRHOPE PIER AREA FOR REGISTRATION. THE EVENT WILL TAKE PLACE SATURDAY, 4 APRIL 1998, FROM 6:00 AM TO 5:00 PM. SECONDED BY COUNCILMEMBER JONES, MOTION PASSED UNANIMOUSLY.
