The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session
at 5:30 pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber;
161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on
Monday, 12 December 1994.
Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers John V.
Duck, Michael A. Ford, David E. Bishop, Jeanette Puckett, and
Layton Overstreet; City Attorney Marion E. Wynne and City Clerk
Evelyn Phillips. No one was absent.
There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting
to order. Minutes of the 28 November 1994 regular session
were duly approved.
Sargeant Edgar Smith, 638th Ordinance Company, Detachment I,
presented a plaque to the Mayor and Council expressing appre-
ciation for the support shown to Fort Reil Armory by the City
over the years.
Councilman Bishop moved for final adoption of Ordinance
No. 963, an ordinance requiring underground utilities, which
was introduced in writing at the 28 November regular meeting.
Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Duck moved to approve the issuance of a Restau-
rant Liquor License to Lisa Ellen Field, dba THE ROYAL OAK,
14 North Church Street. There was police approval of the
applicant. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously.
Councilman Ford moved to approve the issuance of a Restau-
rant Liquor License to Nicholas J. Pappas, dba SOUTHERN LIGHTS
COFFEE HOUSE & BOOK STORE, 52j South Section Street. There
was police approval of the applicant. Seconded by Councilman
Duck, motion passed unanimously.
The Fairhopers Community Park Committee, and Entertainment
Management, Inc., requested permission to block off a certain
area of Downtown on New Year's Eve to hold a fundraiser.
Councilman Bishop moved to grant the request provided the
time of closing is coordinated with the police, and proper
documentation of insurance is received. Seconded by Councilman
Overstreet, motion passed unanimously. The event is to be
"FAIRHOPE'S FANTASTIC NEW YEAR'S EVE CELEBRATION."
Due to the Christmas holidays, Councilwoman Puckett moved
to reschedule the next regular session from Monday, December 26th,
to Tuesday, December 27th, same time and place. Seconded by
Councilman Overstreet, motion passed unanimously.

Councilman Ford moved to hear the following business not
on the Agenda. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed
unanimously:
Councilman Ford introduced in writing, and moved for the
adoption of, the following resolution. Seconded by Council-
woman Puckett, motion passed unanimously:
RESOLUTION NO. 469-94
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE,
ALABAMA, that Mayor James P. Nix is hereby authorized to
purchase for the City approximately 7.7 acres of property
from NANCY BOSBY JORDAN, said property lying adjacent to the
City's property at 550 South Section Street, (City Utilities
and Public Works Building and surrounding area); for the sum
of Twenty -Seven Thousand, Twenty -Eight Dollars, (#27,028.00),
to be paid 1/3 each from the three Utility Funds.
ADOPTED THIS 12TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1994.

Councilman Overstreet moved to pay bills as presented.
Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously.
There being no other business, meeting was duly adjourned
at 5:45 pm.
