HomeMy WebLinkAbout09-29-1994 Special Meeting1601 STATE OF ALABAMA 0 COUNTY OF BALDWIN 0 The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in special session at 1:00 pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber; 161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on Thursdav, 29 September 1994. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers John V. Duck, Michael A. Ford, and Layton Overstreet; City Attorney Marion E.-Wynne and City Clerk Evelyn P. Phillips. Council - member David E. Bishop and Jeanette Puckett were absent. The purpose of this meeting is to accept a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for certain improve- ments at the Municipal Airport, and to award a construction contract to the lowest bidder for said improvements. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. The FAA-AIP grant is for $406,760.00. The City is to pay 10% ($40,676) which will be reduced to 5% by a later State grant. Councilman Ford moved to accept the grant. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously. Barge, Waggoner, Sumner & Cannon, consulting engineers for the Airport project, reported the following bids on the airport improvements: Bidder Total Amount R.P. Colquett Co Theodore $ 354,943.64 Mobile Asphalt Co Saraland $ 431,937.72 H.O. Weaver & Sons Mobile $ 455,157.73 George B. Hardee Co Semmes $ 348,023.45 Acme Asphalt Company and J.S. Walton Company offered no bid. Barge, Waggoner recommends acceptance of the low bid by George B. Hardee Company. Councilman Overstreet introduced in writing, and moved for the adoption of, the following resolution. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously: 29 September 1994 1602 RESOLUTION NO. 461-94 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, that Mayor James P. Nix is hereby authorized to execute a contract between the CITY and GEORGE B. HARDEE CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, PO Box 1395, Semmes, AL 36575, for certain airport improvements known as "FAA AIP Project No. 83-1-3- 01-0029-0294", for the amount of $348,023.45. Project to be under the supervision of the Municipal Airport Board and Consulting engineers Barge, Waggoner Sumner, and Cannon, Inc., of Dothan, Alabama. This award is made subject to the availability of funds and the review and approval of the Federal Aviation Administration. ADOPTED THIS 29TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1994. Meeting was duly adjourned at 1:08 pm.
