HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-17-1990 Regular Meeting1154 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN X The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 5:30 pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber; 161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on Monday. 17 December 1990. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Jeanette Puckett, Michael A. Ford, and John V. Duck; City Attorney Marion E. Wynne and City Clerk Evelyn P. Phillips. Councilman David E. Bishop was absent. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Minutes of the 10 December 1990 regular session were duly approved. Council took the following action on bids to repair FEMA project "Bulkhead" located north of the Municipal Pier: BULKHEAD REPAIR - FEMA PROJECT (MATERIALS ONLY -CITY LABOR): Vendor NFL Building Sup Daphne Scotty's Daphne Underwood Supply Mobile Amount Delivery $ 61,287.70 10 days $ 6,527.80 30 days $ 79752.80 10 days It is recommended to accept the low bid by NFL Bldg Supply.--W.Smith, Purch Agt.--P.Rutherford, Gen Supt Councilman White moved to accept the low bid of $6,287.70 by NFL Building Supply Company as recommended, provided all specifications are met. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously. Councilwoman Puckett introduced an ordinance in writing to restrict access to Quail Creek Drive between County Road No. 27 and the Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse. This ordi- nance will be given final consideration at the next regular Council session. Councilman Ford introduced an ordinance in writing to make the taking of recyclable materials placed at curbside for the purpose of being picked up by the City a misdemeanor. This ordinance will be given final consideration at the next regular Council Session. 17 December 1990 1155 Mayor Nix opened the floor for nominations to fill the unexpired term of Tom Thornhill as an alternate on the Board of Adjustments and Appeals. Councilwoman Puckett nominated Mr. Jim McClure. There being no other nominations, Councilman White moved to close the nominations and appoint Mr. McClure by acclamation. Seconded by Councilman Duck, motion passed unanimously. Councilman Duck moved to hear the following business not on the Agenda. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously: Mayor Nix reported that, as a time -saving method, the City Clerk requests permission to use a facsimile signature stamp on routine checks and paperwork. After discussion, Councilman Duck introduced, and moved for the adoption of, the following resolution. Seconded by Councilwoman Puckett, motion passed unanimously: RESOLUTION NO. 328-90 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, AL, That City Clerk -Treasurer EVELYN P. PHILLIPS is hereby authorized to use a facsimile signature for routine checks and paperwork. Sample: 0 d 0 Qlar ADOPTED THIS 17TH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1990.
