Nix, Mayor CONSENT TO HOLDING OF MEETING 2 The undersigned members of the City Council of the City of Fairhope, Alabama, do hereby acknowledge service of the Notice and Call of Special Meeting hereinabove set forth and do hereby consent to the holding of such meeting at such time and in such place and for the purpose set forth therein. Councilmen Shull and Bishop were absent. 1102 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in SPECIAL session at 5:00 pm; Fairhope Municipal Complex Mayor' Office; 161 North Section Street; Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on Thursday. 7 June 1990. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Jeanette Puckett, and Michael A. Ford; City Attorney Marion E. Wynne and City Clerk Evelyn P. Phillips. Council - members David E. Bishop and Barney L. Shull were absent. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. The purpose of this meeting was to take action on garbage service. Mayor Nix reported that an analysis of the bids on garbage service contracts shows that the City can handle the service less expensively than by contract. In addition, an emergency situation has come up due to the fact that the present con- tractor, Mrs. Leona Bosby, could not continue to operate past midnight tonight because of insurance expirations. After discussion, Council took the following actions: Councilman White moved to reject all bids on the garbage con- tract service. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed by the following unanimous vote: AYE - White, Puckett, Ford, and Nix. NAY - none. Councilwoman Puckett moved to authorize bid requests to lease purchase two 20 cy rear -loading garbage trucks. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed by the following unanimous vote: AYE - White, Puckett, Ford, and Nix. NAY - none. Councilman Ford moved to rent two (or three) trucks from Bosby Sanitation, at $2,000/month/trk, on an emergency basis, until our own trucks can be purchased and put in service. Seconded by Councilwoman Puckett, motion passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - White, Puckett, Ford, and Nix. NAY -none. Councilman White moved to authorize the garbage service to be handled by the City and for temporary personnel to be hired to begin service on 8 June 1990. Seconded by Councilwoman Puckett, motion passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - White, Puckett, Ford, and Nix. NAY - none. 7 June 1990 1103 Councilwoman Puckett introduced ORDINANCE NO. 857, an ordi- nance to establish new garbage rates. In or er to take immediate action, Councilman Ford moved to suspend the rules. Seconded by Councilman White, motion to suspend passed unan- imously by the following vote: AYE - White, Puckett, Ford, and Nix. NAY - none. Councilwoman Puckett then moved for final adoption of Ordinance No. 857. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion to final adopt passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - White, Puckett, Ford, and Nix. NAY - none.
