Councilman White gave a feasibility report on the City's
spraying for mosquitos. Mr. White and Mr..Rutherford feel
the City can spray about 12 hours a week for 40 weeks a
year at a cost of about $24,289 as opposed to about $30,240
which would be the cost of having this spraying done by the
County. The estimated city cost is based on one truck with
an operator and the necessary supplies. Bids were requested
on a mosquito sprayer unit and there was only one bidder:
Adapco, Inc., of Orlando, Florida. The Model 1600 unit will
cost $5,500.. Councilman White moved that this bid be accepted
and that the budget be amended to set aside about $30,000 in
the street department for the mosquito spraying program. The
sprayer unit, chemicals, and the costs of the truck and driver
are to be charged against this $30,000. Councilman Shull
seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
