HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-28-1986 Regular Meeting762 STATE OF ALABAMA X COUNTY OF BALDWIN The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 5:30, p.m.; Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532; on Monday, 28 July 1986. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Jeanette Puckett, David E. Bishop, Michael A. Ford, and Barney L. Shull; City Attorney James Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. No one was absent. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Minutes of the 14 July 1986 regular session were duly approved. Mayor Nix and other Council members welcomed new member, Councilwoman Puckett. Councilman Shull moved for final adoption of Ordinance No. 771, an ordinance rezoning the Glen Ingersoll property north of Fairhope Avenue and south of Edwards Avenue on the west side of Greeno Road from R4 Low Density Multi -Family Resi- dential to B4 Business $ Professional Offices. Seconded by Councilman Bishop, motion passed unanimously. Councilman White introduced a "house -keeping" ordinance to amend several Sections of the Fairhope Code of Ordinances: Sec. 2-3, remove duty of Court Clerk from City Clerk's extra duties; Sec. 2-10, all checks drawn on City funds to require two signatures with alternates to the Mayor and Treasurer as designated by Resolution from time to time; Sec. 8-1, change base rate for insurance business licenses from $10.00 to $15.00; and Sec. 21-213, remove codification error which added a 2.20 tax on electrical rates. This ordinance will be considered for final adoption at the next regular session. Councilman Shull introduced, and moved for the adoption of, the following Resolution. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously: RESOLUTION NO. 190-86 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, That City Water & Sewer Department employee HORACE WATKINS, SS #424-09-4320, is hereby given our approval to con- tinue his employment past the mandatory retirement age of 70 years. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Retirement System of Alabama be sent a copy of this resolution as written notice of said approval by the City of Fairhope through 30 Sept 1987. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously: RESOLUTION NO. 191-86 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF FAIRHOPE, ALABAMA, That: Mayor James P. Nix is hereby authorized to execute a Grant Application for $40,000 by the FAIRHOPE LIBRARY BOARD to the ALABAMA PUBLIC LIBRARY SERVICE. ADOPTED THIS 28th DAY OF JULY, 1986. �. /N fs .
