Councilwoman Nelson moved to hear the following business not
on the Agenda. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed
unanimously:
Attorney Reid advised that several Utility Accounts had
been turned over to him for collection. Mr. Reid asked if
the Council wanted to handle this on an hourly -rate basis or
on a contingency basis. Contingency would be 25% of any amount
collected without going to court, and 33-1/3% of any amount
collected with court action. Councilman Bishop moved in favor
of the contingency basis. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion
passed unanimously.
Mayor Nix announced that a fetter was going to be sent to
all citizens of Fairhope regarding Trash Pickup Service in an
effort to start a war on litter. Many people are placing trash
in the gutters and drainage ditches which is resulting in stopped
up drains and flooding. The letter is to make them aware of
which day of the week their trash will be picked up and ask that
they not put trash out a week ahead of pickup day. Mayor Nix
asked the Council to have some suggestions at the next regualr
meeting on other ways to further this cleanup campaign.
Meeting was duly adjourned.
