HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-22-1985 Regular Meeting652 STATE OF ALABAMA I COUNTY OF BALDWIN I The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in regular session at 5:30 o'clock, PM, Fairhope Municipal Complex Council Chamber, 161 North Section Street, Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Monday, 22 April 1985. Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Roy C. White, Trisha Nelson, Michael A. Ford, and Barney L. Shull; City Attorney James Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. Councilman David E. Bishop was absent. There being a quorum present, Mayor Nix called the meeting to order. Minutes of the 8 April 1985 regular session were duly approved. Councilman White moved for final adoption of Ordinance JE754, an ordinance amending Zoning Ordinance #557, yard sa es an home occupations regulations. Seconded by Councilman Shull, motion passed unanimously. Mr. Tom Dekle came before the Council to request permission to place a flower planter at the edge of his property on city right-of-way, near the corner of White Avenue and South Mobile Street. After some discussion, Councilman Shull moved to have Mr. Dekle change his planter to a flower bed and to coordinate with City Street Superintendent Tim Kant. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously. Council reveiwed an application for a Beer On/Off Premises License by Jerry Boyington, dba PIONEER SMOKEHOUSE, INC., 552 North'Section Street. No one present was opposed to the license. There was police approval. Councilwoman Nelson moved to approve the application. Seconded by Councilman Ford, motion passed unanimously. Electrical Superintendent Aaron received on the following supplies: Transformers: Vendor 3 units/75 KVA Trio Electric Pensacola, Fla 1,206.00 ea Mack Electric Andalusia, Al 1,214.00 ea Norris reported on bids 10 units/50 KVA 12 units/25 KVA 967.00 ea 769.00 ea 600.00 ea 632.00 ea Hatfield & Co. Mobile, Al 1,255.00 ea 782.00 ea 568.00 ea Supt. Norris explained that these units must be evaluated according to load loss and delivery in order to determine actual lowest price. After evaluation, the following bids were recommended: 22 April 1985 653 On the 75 KVA units: Mack Electric at $1,214.00 each. On the 50 KVA units: Mack Electric at $ 769.00 each. On the 25 KVA units: Trio Electric at $ 600.00 each. So moved by Councilman Shull. Seconded by Councilwoman Nelson, motion passed unanimously. Mayor Nix reported on the City Auction held last Saturday, April 20th. All items were sold with a net income of $2,033.00. Audience and media were reminded that the University of South Alabama Symphonic Band would perform at the Civic Center on May 9th at 8:00 in a free concert.
