COUNTY OF BALDWIN X
We, the undersigned members of the Fairhope City Council,
do hereby waive notice of a special called meeting to be held
29 January 1982 at 5:30 p.m., City Administration Building,
387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama, for the purpose of
discussing Business Licenses and to receive a report on bid
opening on blockwork and plumbing - Civic Center project.

The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in special session
at 5:30 pm, City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue,
Fairhope, Alabama 36532, on Friday, 29 January 1982.
Present were Mayor James P. Nix; Councilmembers Sam E. Box,
C. 0. McCawley, Trisha Nelson, Roy C. White, and David Ed Bishop;
City Attorney Jim Reid and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips.
The purpose of this meeting was to consider changes in
the licensing of businesses and to receive a report on a bid
opening on Phases X and XI, Blockwork and Plumbing, at the
Civic Center.
Councilman McCawley introduced Ordinance No. 689, an Ordi-
nance to amend Sections 8-1 and 8-16 (Automobiles (a) and (c);
Groceries, Retail;.Merchant General, Retail; Merchant General,
Wholesale; Professional; Add 'Boats For Sale'; Delete public
policy license on Pistols, Knives and Dirks; and delete the
posting of Licenses) of the Code of Ordinances, City of Fairhope.
In order to take action on this Ordinance at this time, Councilman
Box moved to suspend the rules. Seconded by Councilman Bishop,
motion passed unanimously by the following vote: AYE - Box, White,
Bishop, Nelson, and McCawley. NAY - none. ABSTAIN - Mayor Nix.
Councilman McCawley then moved for final adoption of Ordinance
No. 689. Seconded by Councilman Box, motion passed by the following
vote: AYE - Box, White, Bishop, Nelson, and McCawley. NAY - none.
ABSTAIN - Mayor Nix. Mayor Nix abstained due-k-persbnal business
interests which will be affected by Ordinance No. 689.
Councilman White moved to extend the -February 1st delin-
quent date to February 16, 1982, for 1982 Licenses only. Seconded
by Councilman Bishop, motion passed unanimously.
Building Official Bob Lunsford reported on Civic Center
Blockwork and Plumbing Bid opening held January 28th. The
following bids were received on Phase X, Blockwork:
Reynolds Brothers $16,343.37
Underwood Builders $23,560.15
Material Sales Company $14,751.64
Councilman Bishop moved to accept the low bid, provided all spec-
ifications are met. Seconded by Councilman White, motion passed
unanimously.
Bids on Phase XI, Plumbing: Mr. Lunsford stated two bids were
received but he needed further time to study in order to deter-
mine the low bid. Councilwoman Nelson moved to authorize accep-
tance of the low bid, provided all specifications are met.
Seconded by Councilman Box, motion passed unanimously.
Meeting was duly adjourned.
