HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-28-1979 Special MeetingSTATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF BALDWIN We, the undersigned members of the Fairhope City Council, do hereby waive notice of a special called meeting to be held 28 December 1979 at 5:00 pm, City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama, for the purpose of reviewing bids on truck and chassis for the Electrical Department; reviewing proposed Municipal Pier Lease; and discussing purchase of a tractor. Mayor S LW ouncilmember Councilmember /0'"� ounc ner Councilmember A &�V= Councilmember Attest �� R, /*,-- - I — City Jerk 130 The City Council, City of Fairhope, met in special session at 5:00 p.m. City Administration Building, 387 Fairhope Avenue, Fairhope, Alabama 36532 on Friday, 28 December 1979. Present were Counci]members Jack A. Stipes, Trisha Nelson, Sam E. Box, Sr., C.O. McCawley, and David Ed Bishop; City Attorney John Duck and City Clerk Evelyn Phillips. Mayor James P. Nix, was absent due to a prior appointment. Mayor Pro Tem Stipes served as chairman in the Mayor's absence and called the meeting to order. City Electrical Superintendent Aaron Norris reported that he, City Superintendent Rutherford, City Purchasing Agent L. M. Kirby and Councilman Bishop had reviewed the bids on the specialized line truck and recommended the following offers be accepted as low bidders meeting specifications: Body - Altec Industries at $ 50,183 less 5,500 trade-in Chassis - Gaston Fort at $ 19,926 Total $ � Councilman Bishop so moved, seconded by Councilman McCawley. Motion passed unanimously. City Superintendent Phil Rutherford then addressed Council in regard to the Leaf Vacuum purchase under consideration. Mr. Rutherford recommended a tractor be purchased due to its wider variety of uses instead of the Vacuummm. Councilman Box moved to reject the bids offered on the Vacuum and to authorize Mr. Rutherford to obtain bids on a tractor. Seconded by Council- woman Nelson, motion passed unanimously. Mr. Bob Pope presented a lease on the Municipal Pier for consideration. City Attorney Duck questioned the 25-year plus 5-year option terms and also the paragraphs relative to the purchase of "good will"; Councilman Bishop felt something should be included to allow for periodic renegotiation of the rental amounts; and Councilman McCawley questioned the various percent- ages to be used to determine amounts due to the City when various sales are made.
